I. Scientific research achievements
Through experimental observation, we found the main regional characteristics of ionospheric disturbance in China, and put forward the conclusion that the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and related vortex weather are important excitation sources of ionospheric disturbance in China.
Through the analysis of global GPS observation data, the longitude "four waves" structure of parameters such as the total electron content in the ionosphere at low latitudes is found, the climatological characteristics of the ionosphere "four waves" phenomenon and its relationship with different components of atmospheric non-migratory tides are systematically revealed, and the mechanism of atmospheric tides's excitation of the ionosphere longitude structure is demonstrated. In addition, it is found that the solar wind controls the sudden E layer in the polar ionosphere.
Second, the lecture report
On the morning of May 26th, 20 12, Wan held a special academic lecture with the theme of digital ionosphere at Kashi Station, Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
On the morning of June 5th, 20 17, Wan visited the lecture hall of General College of Hubei University to give the academic report of the 100 issue.
With the title "Solar System Space Environment and Planetary Particle Escape", he expounded the composition of the universe, the origin of the solar system, the solar system space environment and its evolution and future under the influence of the solar wind from three aspects: solar system space environment, planetary space environment and planetary particle escape.

Academician Wan's personal experience;
1 July, 9581day, Wan was born in Tianmen, Hubei. His primary and secondary schools coincided with the Cultural Revolution, and there was no normal learning environment at all. So he taught himself what the teacher couldn't say in class, and read extracurricular books if there was nothing in the textbook. Because he is eager to learn, the teacher often helps him with his homework and corrects homework that is not assigned.
1977, the first college entrance examination after the "Cultural Revolution" was admitted to the Department of Space Physics of Wuhan University.
1982, after graduating from Wuhan University, he studied and worked in Wuhan Institute of Physics, China Academy of Sciences, and studied under Academician Li Jun, a space physicist. 1984, graduated from Wuhan Institute of Physics of China Academy of Sciences with a master's degree.
1989, graduated from Wuhan Institute of Physics, China Academy of Sciences with a doctor's degree, stayed in the school and worked as an assistant researcher, associate researcher, researcher and director of the research office. 1996 was selected as the first and second class candidate of the national "100 million talents project" 1995/ 1996.
In 2004, due to the discipline integration of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wan led the main backbone of the ionospheric physics laboratory to move from Wuhan to Beijing, and established the geomagnetic and space physics laboratory in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and served as the laboratory director.
