I skipped geometry C of B, is there still a number?
Geely Geometry’s second car has arrived as promised, and it is an SUV. Launched more than a month ago, we saw Geometry C’s affordable price and rich after-sales guarantee. The main purpose of this test drive is to see if it is really as good as it says?
Although Geometry is a new brand, it is backed by Geely Automobile, so it not only has the characteristics of fast updates and iterations of new car-making forces, but also can avoid some pitfalls experienced by its predecessors.
Although the mileage of this test drive was not long, I also discovered several features and improvements of Geometry C, which I would like to share with you.

★What has changed?
Electricity?
The most popular battery last year was undoubtedly NCM811. The numbers represent the proportion of each element, that is, a ternary lithium battery with a positive electrode nickel content of 80%. It has high energy density. famous. At that time, Geometry A was the first batch of electric vehicles equipped with NCM811 batteries, with an energy density of up to 182Wh/kg.
The cathode material of the Geometry C battery is NCM523, which seems to be a step back, but the energy density is actually higher, reaching 183Wh/kg, leading in the same level.
The module and battery management system of this battery still come from CATL. The power battery pack is a cooperation between Geely and CATL. The SEM intelligent energy management system involving the entire vehicle was developed by Geely itself.
So it is not difficult to find that increasing the proportion of nickel elements is not the only way to increase battery energy density. Better module design and packaging levels can also have an effect.
As for the cost of the 523 battery, Geely did not disclose it. The cost of the previous 523 battery will be lower, but we must also consider the research and development costs of new technologies and processes.
Central control operation
One of the previous highlights of the Geometry A interior was the sci-fi-looking central control panel, but the price of good looks is that the buttons cannot be seen clearly on sunny days.
Geometry C uses black lines to outline these hexagons, which greatly improves their recognition during the day. However, the functions and operation methods of these buttons have also changed.
Geometry A has four functions: driving mode, energy recovery, automatic parking, and steep slope descent. Geometry C has four functions: panoramic image, automatic parking, ESP switch, and steep slope descent. Slow down. And the usage method has also changed from single click to double click.
As for the switching between driving mode and energy recovery mode, it has been moved to the home page in the central control screen, which accounts for a small proportion. Clicking during driving has a certain failure rate. But considering that the frequency of mode switching is not high, it is not a big problem.
I can probably guess the logic behind this modification: the hexagonal panel below only contains some functions that are only used when parking. In this way, even if you lower your head to search, even if you need to double-click, the security and convenience will not be affected.
The air conditioning control buttons of the Geometry C have become physical buttons. The double flash switch has been moved from the middle of the air conditioning outlet to the top of the storage slot. As for the original glove box switch, it has been moved to the side of the glove box.
Although it sacrifices some sci-fi feel, Geometry C is indeed easier to use.
In addition, the central control vehicle system has also been upgraded to a newer version of GKUI, which makes the interface more intuitive and easier to operate.
Charging port location
The two charging ports of Geometry A are at the rear of the car body, while Geometry C has moved the fast charging port to the right front fender.
This design can reduce the length of high-voltage and high-current cables in the car, improve safety and rationality of circuit layout, but when charging in a public parking lot, it will be somewhat inconvenient to park the car with the front of the car facing inward. .
Speaking of charging, I actually experienced it this time. What surprised me was the popularity of charging piles on Pingtan Island. I went to two parking lots and found that there were charging piles in every parking space. !
Performance
The motor power of Geometry C has been increased to 150kW, and the torque has also been increased to 310Nm. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 seconds is only 7 seconds. Driving in SPORT mode is quite exciting and you can experience it more. to the pleasure brought by the responsiveness and acceleration capabilities of electric vehicles.
However, in addition to the SPORT mode, the other two modes of the Geometry C are called ECO and ECO+, which sounds very environmentally friendly at first glance.
The setting of the ECO mode is somewhat conservative. Although the response in the first third of the accelerator pedal is timely, it is not strong. There is no difference between the acceleration force of the kick and the SPORT mode, so the maximum output of the two should be the same.
The ECO+ mode shows a stronger desire to control power consumption. The maximum output of the motor, the power of the air conditioner, and the audio are all limited, all for the sake of battery life.
I personally would like to have a mode between ECO and SPORT, such as comfort mode. The current ECO is a bit Buddhist, and SPORT is a bit impulsive. And I don’t want to choose, I want it all.
★What hasn’t changed?
Strong battery life
At first, I was impressed by the battery life of Geometry A. Even in the winter, with the heater on, the power consumption per 100 kilometers was still less than 14 degrees Celsius. The 100-kilometer journey home shows that I dare to drive back with the remaining 150 kilometers.
The highest endurance version of Geometry C can reach NEDC endurance of 550km, but the mileage of this test drive is less than 100km, and the data obtained may not be reference enough. Let’s take a look.
My test car drove 68km with 4 passengers, turned on the air conditioner, and stopped for half an hour to take pictures (without turning off the air conditioner). The indicated range was reduced by 87km, and the range was discounted. The rate is 78%. Other test drives in the same group also basically scored around 80%.
Some people may ask: Can this be considered strong? This cannot be blamed on the car companies, but on NEDC. This itself is a test standard that is divorced from actual use scenarios. The measured fuel consumption and battery life have an accuracy of 80%, which is already a very good level. In fact, it is also common for electric vehicles to offer 40% off or 30% off on battery life.
In fact, Geometry C also has an SEM intelligent energy management system, which can use electricity more efficiently and calculate battery life more accurately based on the driver's operating habits. In other words, the longer you drive, the more accurate the battery life will be. . However, the distance of this test drive was too short and I was not able to fully experience this function.
Control and sound insulation
This aspect can well reflect the gap in car-making experience, which is naturally not a problem for Geometry C.
The chassis adjustment of Geometry C adopts a tough style. You can feel that its suspension spring stiffness is relatively large, and the roll when cornering is quite small. Its performance exceeds that of most fuel SUVs in the same class. If you don't care about power consumption, replace the Haoyue 4 tires with PS4, and maybe you can find some feeling of a small steel cannon.
However, when passing through bad road conditions, the road feel from the chassis is a bit too clear for passengers. Fortunately, the suspension doesn't feel loose.
The brakes appear a little sensitive at low speeds, but after the speed exceeds 40km/h, the brakes become very linear. In this case, energy recovery is more involved at high speeds and mechanical braking is dominant at low speeds. caused by the settings. This braking system comes from Bosch's iBooster.
During driving, except for rapid acceleration and braking, there is basically no buzzing sound from the motor. Geometry C's sound insulation in this aspect continues its excellent performance.
★Conclusion
This test car is a top-of-the-line version with quite a wealth of driving assistance functions. It is slightly higher than the mainstream L2, and now everyone likes to call it L2. 5.
However, the current buyers of electric vehicles are still mainly for urban use, and the sub-top price of 162,800 should be more attractive.
After the test drive, we had some exchanges with Liu Zhifeng, general manager of the Geometry Brand Sales Company. He mentioned that from the launch on August 7 to now, the wholesale volume of Geometry C is 784 units and the delivery volume is 309 units, which still has a lot of room for improvement in the future. In particular, Beijing plans to release 20,000 new energy targets. If a family buys one car, electric SUVs like the Geometry C are very competitive.
During the period, someone asked whether Geely and Geometry would consider a model of battery swapping or vehicle-battery separation. At that time, Mr. Liu Zhifeng said lightly: Geely has the technical reserves for battery replacement.
As a result, yesterday, Geely Technology released a battery swap model, stating that it will build 35 battery swap stations in Chongqing this year.
Now I think back to what Mr. Liu Zhifeng said at that time: We Geely also have technical reserves for lithium iron phosphate, and we also have... I can’t help but be full of expectations, wondering what good things Geely will come up with next.
