Xingtai, formerly known as Xingzhou and Shunde, is a prefecture-level city in Hebei Province, a node city of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, a provincial-level historical and cultural city in Hebei Province, an advanced manufacturing base and logistics hub in south-central Hebei Province. By 2020, the city will have jurisdiction over 4 districts, 12 counties and 2 county-level cities.

The total area is 1.24 million square kilometers, the urban built-up area is 2 1.48 square kilometers, the permanent population is 7,395,200, the urban population is 40 1.44 million, and the urbanization rate is 54.23%.

Xingtai is located in North China and southern Hebei, with Beijing-Guangzhou and Beijing-Kowloon railways, Beijing-Guangzhou and Beijing-Kowloon high-speed railways, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao, Daguang and Taihang Mountains running through the north and south.
