The weather in xuyong county now.

Ginkgo tree (commonly known as "Ginkgo tree"), a deciduous tree, is one of the oldest tree species in the world. After textual research, ginkgo tree species are called "pandas in the plant world" and "living fossils in the ice age" by contemporary scientific circles. Ginkgo biloba lived on the earth more than 200 million years ago and appeared on the earth 1 100 million years earlier than dinosaurs. During the Quaternary Ice Age more than 2.5 million years ago, the number of Ginkgo biloba gradually decreased and was on the verge of extinction. However, South China has become the last habitat of Ginkgo biloba because of its suitable geographical location and mild climate. It has become a precious and rare plant so far. The ancient ginkgo tree located in Guanxing Town, xuyong county, on the Chishui River in Ji Ming Province is one of the extremely rare survivors.

This ginkgo tree is located on the right side of the famous Snow Mountain Pass, on the left side of Chahe Village in the famous three provinces of Ji Ming in the southwest, and on the ridge of the first community in Puxing Village, Guanxing Town, xuyong county, on the north bank of Chishui River. This ginkgo tree is leafy, with winding and intricate roots, many trees on its waist and dense trees. The breast diameter of ancient ginkgo trees is more than 5 meters, and the breast circumference 15.78 meters. Need more than 10 people to hold hands. There are nearly 50 branches above the middle of the tree, of which the thickest branch has a diameter of more than 60 cm, and the tallest branch is more than 7 meters. The tree produces nearly 300 to 400 kilograms of fruit every year. Looking from a distance, it looks like a forest, presenting a strange landscape of ginkgo trees for thousands of years. In the early 1990s, experts from the Provincial Academy of Forestry confirmed that this tree was more than 2,200 years old. It is like a weather-beaten old man, silently watching the hardworking and simple people in southwest China. In the eyes of local villagers, this is a well-deserved treasure of the town and mountain, and this kind of tree is really rare in China.

Puxing Village is 7.5 kilometers away from Guanxing Town. It is adjacent to Xiekou Village, Chishui Town in the east, across the river from Shengji Town, Qixingguan District, Guizhou Province in the south, near Shixiangzi, which handed over power in Bo Gu during the Red Army's Long March and reversed the fate of China, and connected to Mula Village, Guanxing Town in the north. Puxing village is low in the east and high in the west, located in Jiapigou between two mountains. It belongs to the marginal junction of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the central area of Wumeng Mountain, and is a typical karst landform. There is a big hillside in front of the Millennium ginkgo tree growth building. About 1000 meters below the mountain is Chishui River, which flows slowly from west to east. This nameless mountain lies like a long dragon on the north bank of Chishui River. The dragon head lies on the Liang Shi in Xiekou Village, Chishui Town, quietly looking at the blossoming waves on the clear river. The dragon's tail swayed gently on a flat dam on the left side of the stone box. The Millennium ginkgo tree that I want to talk about grows in the right part of the dragon's lower back. It is about 1300m above sea level, with good light all year round, annual average temperature above 30 degrees, annual rainfall of about 190mm, and frost-free period of about 200 days. Especially suitable for the growth of ginkgo trees for thousands of years.

According to legend, there is a smaller ginkgo tree in Zhangjiachong, a small place name in Xianghe Village, Shengji Town, Guizhou Province, which corresponds to this millennium ginkgo tree. The two trees face each other across the river. 1958, during the Great Leap Forward of China Iron and Steel, the First Society of Puxing Village cut down the upper part of the tree as waist, and the big root was used as a tool for burning steel and carbon for ironmaking-bellows, and the small root was burned into charcoal, leaving only one branch at that time. Strangely, after Sichuan Ginkgo biloba was cut down, the ginkgo trees in Guizhou stopped growing, their branches and leaves dried up, they did not branch in spring, and they did not bear fruit in autumn. There is red mud running down from the trees everywhere. People at the border of Sichuan and Guizhou say that these two trees are husband and wife trees. This tree in Sichuan is badly hurt, and the male tree in Guizhou is bleeding. After three years in a row, the ancient ginkgo tree in Sichuan grew many branches where it was cut, and the one in Guizhou slowly recovered its vitality, and the two trees continued to grow sturdily.

Speaking of this thousand-year-old ginkgo, there is a little-known beautiful legend that has to surprise people. According to legend, in the Ming Dynasty, a handsome young man named Bai Xiujun went to Beijing to take the exam. He was the best scholar. After becoming the champion, the emperor sent troops to send Wen Bang to ride a fast horse and sleep in the wind. He sent a list of articles to Xiaowanzi (now the location of ginkgo tree) in Xiaoqinggou, where candidates registered for the examination in the Palace, to find a scholar to lead the list. After months of searching, Bai Xiujun was never found. It was not until I saw this ginkgo tree that the people who sent the list suddenly realized. Both Bai Guoshu and Bai Xiujun are surnamed Bai. Isn't this champion the embodiment of ginkgo tree? Anyway, I couldn't find anyone, so the person who sent the good news put the list on the ginkgo tree and returned to Beijing. At this point, the story of the ancient tree incarnating as the champion has spread to this day, and this ginkgo tree has also left the reputation of "the champion of chitose". In the early 1990s, the People's Government of xuyong county listed Ginkgo biloba as a county-level cultural relic protection object.

Liu Xianpei, a tree-keeper, said that the Millennium Ginkgo is not only spectacular and flourishing, but also very spiritual, and you can know the weather according to the changes of Ginkgo biloba. He said, "This ginkgo tree falls down every year when its leaves turn yellow. If the leaves are gone, it will snow, which is very accurate. " In spring, green leaves grow on the trunk of the Millennium ginkgo tree, which is lush and grows gratifying. The crown is like a huge umbrella standing alone on its hillside, allowing tourists to show their kind feelings from the wind and rain. In autumn, the branches of the Millennium ginkgo tree are full of fruits, the branches are drooping, and the golden leaves fall to the ground. The tree stood proudly on the top of the mountain like an old man, watching the villagers pick fruits and smiling.

For more than 2,000 years, the ancient ginkgo tree has been standing on the ridge behind Xiaoqinggoulong, facing the scorching sun in spring, the stormy rain in summer, the scorching sun in autumn and the cold wind in winter, looking up at the beautiful scenery of diving in Dianchi Lake, listening to the roaring waves of Chishui River and smiling at the beautiful scenery of western development. Unfortunately, because it is in the deep mountains, in the "Tianfu Tree King" selection activity led by the Provincial Forestry Department before 2000, this Millennium Ginkgo finally missed the "Tree King", but it will always be a true portrayal of the original ecology along the Chishui River.
