When is World Meteorological Day?

March 23rd every year is World Meteorological Day.

World Meteorological Day, also known as "International Meteorological Day", is the anniversary of the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization and is scheduled to be held on March 23rd every year. The main purpose of World Meteorological Day is to let people of all countries understand and support the activities of the World Meteorological Organization, arouse people's attention and love for meteorological work, and promote the application of meteorology in human activities such as aviation, navigation, water conservancy and agriculture.

1In June, 1960, the World Meteorological Organization passed a resolution, and from 196 1, March 23rd, the effective date of the Convention, was designated as World Meteorological Day. Every year, "World Meteorological Day" has a theme, which requires members of all countries to hold celebrations on this day to widely publicize the important role of meteorological work.

Every year on World Meteorological Day, the Executive Committee of the World Meteorological Organization chooses a publicity theme to raise public awareness of the importance of meteorological issues closely related to it. Each theme reflects the meteorological problems that human beings are concerned about. The theme selection mainly focuses on meteorological work content, main scientific research projects and issues of common concern to all countries in the world.
