Design skills of graphic design

For designers, if you look at Microsoft's Windows Phone platform, you may find a special phenomenon: there are not many ugly applications, but not many impressive applications. Applications have a sense of unity, but it is difficult to publicize their individuality, so that some developers lament that they all look the same. Designer Johnny Holland compared Metro language to Bauhaus style, pointing out that "there is little personalized space because of the removal of decoration", which may give people a feeling of "lack of vitality", so it is also very skillful to design and make good graphic design.

Simple design elements

Flattening completely belongs to the two-dimensional world. A simple shape with a plane without depth of field is a waste of the word if it is not flat. The core of this concept is to give up all decorative effects, such as shadows, perspective, textures, gradients and other elements that can make 3D effects. The boundaries of all elements are clean and clear, without any feathering, gradient or shadow. Especially on the mobile phone, because of the limitation of the screen, this style has more advantages in the user experience, and fewer buttons and options make the interface clean and tidy, which is particularly simple to use.

Emphasize the use of fonts

Font is a very important part of typesetting, which needs to complement other elements. Think about how abrupt a cursive character is in a flat interface. The picture above shows some examples of using sans-serif fonts in print websites. There are many branches in sans serif fonts, and some of them will have unexpected effects under special circumstances. But be careful, if you go too far, don't use those extremely uncommon fonts, because if you can't keep them, you will be pitted.

Pay attention to the color

In flat design, color matching seems to be the most important part, and flat design usually adopts brighter and more dazzling colors than other styles. At the same time, color matching in graphic design also means more colors. For example, other designs only contain two or three main colors at most, while graphic designs use six to eight colors on average. In addition, some colors are also popular, such as light orange, purple, green, blue and other retro colors.

Simplified interaction design

Designers should try to simplify their own design schemes and avoid unnecessary elements in the design. Simple colors and fonts are enough. If you want to add something, try to choose a simple pattern. Flat design is particularly helpful for some retail websites. It can organize goods effectively and arrange them in a simple but reasonable way.

Pseudo-plane design

Don't think that flattening is just flattening the effect of three-dimensional design. Flat design is actually a simplification and reorganization of functions. For example, some weather applications will display the temperature in the form of a thermometer, or calculation applications will still use a two-dimensional calculator. In application software, the image of thermometer is purely decorative, and the calculation method of calculator is not the simplest and most direct. Compared with quasi-materialization, one advantage of flat style is that it can show the working mode of information and things more simply and directly.
