There was this garden in the Qing dynasty, but it was small, but there were many flowers in it. This used to be the private garden of Liangzhou magistrate. It cost a lot of money to expand and renovate that small garden. I heard that hundreds of fruit farmers and vegetable farmers were driven away; All the wood on the western hills was cut down, and foreign designers were hired from Tianjin to build it in conjunction with local experts. All kinds of flowers and trees were planted in it, and the earliest small foreign building "Butterfly Building" in Wuwei was built, and a wall was added. It is proposed to be called "Dongguan Garden". After the founding of New China, it was renamed "Dongguan Garden".

During his stay in Wuwei, Ma arrested able-bodied men everywhere, smuggled opium, secretly bought and sold arms and extorted money from the people. He also built new schools and hospitals and introduced modern facilities such as telephones and electric lights. But in the Hexi Corridor, he blocked the Red Army soldiers' westward expedition. His crimes are numerous and his cruelty is comparable to that of the Japanese army. In particular, there was a murder in Wuwei, which left an eternal charge.

1935, the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants passed through Gansu and was blocked by Ma Jiajun. The ferocious Ma Jiajun killed tens of thousands of Red Army soldiers in Wuwei. On that day, the sky over Wuwei was overcast and the blood on the ground became rivers. The next spring, poplars miraculously grew on the mass graves where the bodies of martyrs were buried. Because there is enough blood irrigation, the branches of poplar are engraved with the spirit of the Red Army, and the cross section of the tree core presents the pattern of a five-pointed star, just like the red five-pointed star on the hat logo of the Red Army.

Today, I finally understand. Why do grandparents dodge not to mention "Dongguan Garden"? They witnessed the bloody killing in Liangzhou, a terrible killing action. Although many years have passed, I am afraid to uncover the scars of history. Old people can't face the cruel fact and make it an untouchable corner of their hearts.

Wuwei people are simple and kind. Although they complain, they also remember his contribution. Old people all know that Ma founded qingyun middle school. "qingyun middle school" actively promoted modern education in Hexi area and became an important part of the establishment of No.1 Middle School in Wuwei 1949. And that grave-sweeping, I also found the answer. Just after the ten-year catastrophe, Wuwei people began a new life synchronized with the motherland. When we approached the Walnut Garden, Caiyi swept away the heroic spirit of the past, but we still dared not face the bloody facts. The history of the Republic of China is gone. Now, the wall of this garden has been torn down, and it faces Tianma Lake in the east and becomes an open city park. Any passerby can enjoy its beautiful scenery, and any tourist can visit it for free. It also has a fashionable name "Liangzhou Botanical Garden".

But Wuwei people love to call it "Walnut Garden". As the name implies, the walnut tree here is the most famous. Walnut trees are numerous and ancient, with many hundred-year-old trees and trees of seventy or eighty years old everywhere. These trees have excellent varieties, mostly thin-skinned walnuts, which are big and fragrant.

There are pear orchards, apple orchards and other flowers and trees in the park.

Look at the tree sign, it was planted in 1900 years, and its history is 120 years. This is the oldest walnut tree we have seen here.

At that time, China was poor and backward, but people watered its youth, trimmed its branches and leaves, and used it to celebrate the harvest. Although the walnut tree is old, there are not many ancient trees preserved. This ancient tree has withstood years of wind, frost, rain, snow, drought, flood and insect pests, and has survived to this day with tenacious vitality. It is also very lucky to escape the war; Escaped all kinds of disasters in history; Even escaped the erosion of the catering and entertainment industry. When it returned to itself and ushered in spring, it was unfortunately amputated by a short path. The cross section is brand new, and the breath of life is still flowing. In midsummer, this branch is flourishing and fruitful. I touched the section and felt the pain and tears of the old tree. I also think this is like a wound on a person, naked and cruel.

That day, the spring was bright, but we left the walnut garden silently.
