How do pigeons keep out the cold?
Pigeons have no gallbladder, mainly plant feed, and like to eat granular substances, such as corn, rice, wheat and beans. This requires the preparation of materials according to local crop resources. However, the variety and quality of raw grain are inconsistent, the feed stability is poor, pigeons are picky eaters, and the nutritional components are often incomplete and unreasonable, which affects the production of meat pigeons. Therefore, conditional pigeon farms should have the idea of buying pellet machines and making their own pellet feed for meat pigeons. You can also buy professional pigeon feed in the market.
Pigeons and feed
Most birds on the earth like plant foods, such as birds, seeds, fruits or pulp, so when we raise them, we must give them their favorite foods. However, some things may be food that we can't get, so we should give them things that we can easily buy! Nowadays, the purpose of raising racing pigeons is to fly back to the pigeon house quickly and accurately in a short distance, so racing pigeons need considerable nutrition in their usual training, so the daily feed supply and the ratio of various feeds are very important. If you don't coordinate properly, not only will you not get good results, but you may also have trouble at ordinary times! After all, raising racing pigeons is very different from ordinary ornamental birds. The general comprehensive feed prices on the market are relatively low, but the price may not be low if you go to the feed list yourself. How to prepare feed with balanced nutrition and low price depends on the reader's own understanding of feed nutrients. Here is a brief introduction to the nutritional composition of feed, which is divided into staple food and non-staple food at first.
The first is the staple food feed.
Corn: sugar accounts for 85%, protein 10%, and fat accounts for 5%. Protein content of corn is more than that of wheat, and protein is the necessary nutrition for muscle formation. Sugar can produce more calories, which is an important energy source in competition training, while fat can produce cold protection when it is cold. Pigeons especially like to eat corn, and the price is cheaper than ordinary ones, so most owners take corn as their staple food. In the past, when feeding young pigeons, chopped corn was used, which was easier to digest. However, some people say that the cut corn is of poor quality, so they switch to small corn, and some even feed young pigeons with the original corn. In fact, as long as it can be swallowed, there should be no problem.
Sorghum: It is a reddish-brown round grain, and it is one of the indispensable staple foods like corn. Its protein content is a little higher than that of corn, and its price is cheap. Good sorghum should be round, big and dry. If its weight is too light, it is poor quality! It belongs to easily digestible food.
Pea: The nutritional components are protein 20%, sugar 72% and fat 8%. For pigeons, beans are very effective in stimulating appetite. In the early stage of brooding, it is necessary to increase the supply of beans and the growth of muscle tissue. But when we enter the competition stage, the proportion of beans will be less!
Wheat: 96% is sugar, 2.5% is protein, and 1.5% is fat. Wheat is easy to deteriorate, so you must pay attention to quality and freshness when buying. Pigeons eating spoiled wheat will cause pigeon diarrhea, so if pigeons at home occasionally have diarrhea, it is probably because the feed is unclean and not close to fresh food. For the feed in brooding period, the proportion of wheat should not be too much. Feed containing more protein and less sugar should be provided. Wheat is easy to digest, as long as you eat a little, it will have an effect.
Followed by non-staple food feed.
The so-called non-staple food feed refers to a small amount of supplementary feed, especially feed containing fat, which provides a proper amount of fat for racing pigeons during intense training and competition or cold protection, because fat can be converted into sugar after decomposition and is the energy source of flight.
Sesame: It contains a lot of fat. In winter, sesame seeds can be added to the feed formula to increase the mildew-proof effect. The brooding period can also be increased appropriately, depending on the variety and the health of young pigeons, and the proportion of sesame seeds must be reduced in hot summer.
Brown rice: Almost all the ingredients are sugar, and the embryo contains a lot of vitamin B. It is a high-value non-staple food feed, and also contains fat and protein. In the competition and brooding period, brown rice is provided to eat, and the effect is very good.
Rapeseed: It contains a lot of fat and should not be eaten in large quantities, but it can make pigeon feathers glow. Just feed some. Although sesame has the same effect, pigeons don't like it because of its high price and small particles.
The above feed is usually used. Of course, there are mung beans, barley, hemp, peanuts and other miscellaneous grains. Commonly used by pigeon lovers. But those feeds are more suitable for pigeons to eat at all stages, and how to match the feed ratio formula must be studied in depth. Some homing pigeon lovers made detailed records before and after feeding and training. There are also pigeon friends who have observed that they are fed according to formula A to see their flight status and durability, and then fed according to formula B. Through observation all the way, the feed ratio of each stage can be obtained. The premise is that pigeon breeders must have knowledge of feed ingredients and nutrition, and understand what nutrition pigeons lack at all stages. And appropriately increase nutrition subsidies, and don't stick to "attending classes according to the table." After all, pigeons are living animals. If pigeon lovers can get closer and get to know pigeons, your chances of winning will be several times higher than others. Although pigeons are "tools" that bring you wealth, you must also pay more love and care for them. Imagine, no matter how hot and cold the weather is, it will fly around and be tested countless times to win Boma for the host. How difficult it is!
