What is psoas fasciitis?

Lumbar myofascitis refers to a series of clinical symptoms caused by edema, exudation and fibrosis of myofascia and muscle tissue in the back due to cold, humidity and chronic strain. Most patients have a history of cold, dampness or overwork, but some people have no reason, which is called natural disease. Common in young and middle-aged patients.

The cause of disease

The humid and cold climate is one of the most common reasons. Wet and cold can make the muscles and blood vessels in the back contract, ischemia and edema cause local fibrous serosity to ooze, and finally form fibrositis. Chronic strain is another important pathogenic factor. After the muscles and fascia of the back are damaged, fibrosis changes occur, which makes the soft tissue in a state of high tension and causes minor laceration.

Finally, fibrous tissue increases and contracts, squeezing local capillaries and peripheral nerves, causing pain. Others, such as sitting in one posture, lack of corresponding activities, sitting in front of the computer for a long time, viral infection and rheumatic muscle allergy, are all incentives.

clinical picture

The main manifestation is diffuse dull pain in the back, especially above the bilateral psoas major and iliac crest. Local pain, chills, skin numbness, muscle spasm and dyskinesia. The characteristics of pain are: morning pain, light during the day, heavy at night, long-term inactivity or excessive activity can induce pain, and the course of disease is long, which occurs due to fatigue and climate change.

There are obvious localized tenderness points in the affected part during physical examination, and touching this point can cause pain and radiation. Sometimes there are nodules in the myofascia, which is called fascial fat hernia.
