The difference between aviation weather forecast and ordinary weather forecast

Aviation weather forecast is very different from general weather forecast. Aviation weather forecast has the characteristics of timeliness, refinement and internationality, and the focus of forecast is different from ordinary weather forecast.

Aviation forecast is divided into two aspects: high altitude forecast and airport forecast. Airport observation report and airport forecast provide routine observation data of the airport and weather forecast for the next few hours respectively, which can only be read by trained airline dispatchers and pilots. During the flight, it is necessary to exchange forecast data with many countries and obtain the latest forecast information. At the same time, planes generally fly at an altitude of more than 30,000 feet, so it is necessary to make some special high-altitude weather forecast maps.

Compared with daily weather forecast, aviation weather forecast requires higher accuracy, so the challenge is still great. Aviation weather forecast requires fixed point, timing and quantification. Fixed point refers to a very specific place, that is, the airport; Timing refers to the requirements for specific time intervals, such as the prediction of take-off and landing time; Quantification requires that the intensity forecast be accurate and specific.
