Why does the crown brake at a low speed in the snow and severely flick its tail?
Don't step on the brakes with or without ABS, except when parking. Stepping on the low-speed brake can reduce the speed of the vehicle more quickly with the help of engine deceleration. For a car without ABS, it is easy to lock the tires when the brakes are disengaged. If the front wheel is locked, it will lose the ability to control the driving direction and the car will move in the inertial direction. Of course, even if the brake is engaged, don't trample the brake pedal to death at once without an emergency. You should push hard gradually. If the vehicle speed is high or you need to brake as soon as possible, you can directly downshift and brake.
Driving on snowy days
Do five checks before driving.
Check the tires: make sure that the tires (including spare tires) have sufficient tire pressure. Check whether the tread is cracked, damaged or protruding. If this happens, go to a professional car repair station for treatment immediately.
Second, check the wiper: if it is damaged, replace it in time and fill it with "glass water" for standby to maintain a good line of sight.
Third, check the battery: if the battery is used for more than two years, it is best to replace it to avoid the difficulty of starting the car at low temperature.
Fourth, check the gasoline: gasoline should be kept at least half of the fuel tank, so as to avoid running out of fuel in emergencies such as traffic jams on the road.
Check emergency supplies: such as water, simple car repair tools, spare safety sheets, cold gloves, flashlights, warning signs, blankets or a small bag of sand.
There are tricks for quick deicing.
Parking outdoors will frost the glass after a night. How to quickly de-ice? At this time, don't try to deice with hot water. As soon as the hot water is poured out, it freezes immediately, which increases the difficulty. The common deicing trick is to start the engine first, turn on the heating in the car, and slowly remove the ice from the ice gap with a special snow shovel for automobile glass. If there is no snow shovel, you can also buckle a larger hard plastic bottle cap on the glass and scrape it slowly.
The car is covered with ice and snow, so all the ice and snow must be scraped clean first, because after the car starts, the remaining snow may form a blind angle of the driver's sight when driving, and the falling ice and snow will affect the safety of other drivers.
Keep the lights clean.
When it snows on cloudy days, the visibility is poor or the light is dim. At this time, you should use width lights, fog lights and even headlights to make it easy for other drivers to see your car and ensure safety, so keep the front and rear lights clean.
Which sections are easy to freeze?
Dark places, bridges, viaducts and small intersections are easy to freeze, so you must be more careful when driving through these places. In any case, try to slow down and keep calm.
It should be specially reminded that although the snow melting agent melts the ice and snow on the main road, you must slow down the speed before driving out of the main road, because many exits or intersections with branches are easy to freeze.
act in an orderly way/manner
If there is a rut on the snowy road, follow it. When driving according to the rut, the steering wheel must not turn sharply to avoid slipping out of the rut and sinking. If the rut is shallow, you should ride it.
Knowledge of using throttle
The common skill of snow control is to slowly lift the clutch and slowly feed the oil. After shifting gears, the speed will decrease. Don't accelerate with a big throttle, or the tire will spin because of skidding.
Grasp the essentials and go uphill and downhill easily.
When going uphill, you must keep a double distance from the car in front, and strive to complete the climb in one go, so as to avoid slowing down or slipping when going uphill and not reaching the top of the slope smoothly. In case the wheels slip due to ice on the ground when climbing the hill, you can sprinkle some sand or spread felt before and after the wheels to increase friction. If necessary, you can also use tools to beat the hard ice on the ground into horizontal grooves to avoid wheel slipping.
When going downhill, you must shift to first gear smoothly and use low gear to slow down.
Turn the steering wheel sideways.
When the vehicle skids, correct steering wheel control can effectively avoid tail flick or in-situ U-turn. Tap the steering wheel gently in the side-slip direction, and then lightly pedal the brakes to slow down after the body is straightened (if there is ABS equipment, you need to pedal the brakes to the end) until the vehicle is completely controlled.
You'd better not park in the snow.
Parking in the snow should be avoided as much as possible, because it will be more difficult to start in the snow. If you must park on a snowy downhill, leave enough space before and after to leave the parking space conveniently. If the sun is shining, try to park your car in the sun, so that the vehicle can start easily.
Every winter, drivers and friends have headaches. When it snows, you should not only be wary of the snow and ice on the ground, but also always beware of passing vehicles and pedestrians. Many novices who have no driving experience in snow and ice weather are on the road, which makes driving in snow very difficult. We provide some precautions for new and old drivers and friends to drive in snowy days, and provide some help for your driving trip.
● Start
After the heavy snow, the snow on the windshield, headlights and rearview mirror must be removed before starting the car to ensure that the line of sight will not be affected when driving. It is best to have a piece of cotton cloth at hand. When parking on the road, you can wipe the fog and mirror on the inside of the window and keep a good line of sight. Snow-covered roads make it difficult for cars to start. In order to enter the driveway smoothly, it is best to move the car back and forth a little, or use a snow shovel to clear the snow in front of the car. Step on the accelerator lightly after ignition, and don't idle the wheel, or the wheel will sink deeper and deeper.
● Driving
On the snowy road, the friction coefficient between the tire and the road is very small, only 0. 1 on the icy road and only 0.2 on the snowy road, so the braking distance is much larger than that on the dry road. If the vehicle speed is 50 km/h, the braking distance on the dry road surface is 12 m, while the braking distance on the snowy road surface is nearly 50 m, careless operation will easily lead to traffic accidents. During driving, always pay attention to the surrounding vehicles and pedestrians. Secondly, keep a sufficient distance from the vehicle in front and be ready to brake in advance. When the distance from the vehicle in front is shortened, no matter what the reason is, stop the oil and slow down immediately, put your feet on the brake pedal and prepare to brake.
● Brake
● Route
In bad weather, you should not only pay attention to your driving skills, but also pay attention to choosing the route. Don't drive blindly on the loop. In fact, many main roads and auxiliary roads around the city are not necessarily more difficult than the main roads around the city. On the day and the next day when it snows, some roads near the ring road are very smooth, but the ring road is full of cars, so it will be shorter and safer to choose these roads.
● Uphill and Downhill
When going up and down the slope, you should use low gear to pass smoothly, and it is not advisable to shift gears in the middle. Prevent flameout when going uphill, and absolutely forbid neutral taxiing when going downhill. Novice drivers can take side roads in snowy days to avoid encountering overpasses with steep slopes. Try to avoid parking on the slope, because it is difficult to restart. If you have to park on a snowy slope, make sure there is enough space for parking. (Han Xu)
Special note: ten words reminder
1, never rely on high-tech braking systems such as ABS and EBD, which only play the role of auxiliary braking.
2. Be sure to keep your eyes clear, no matter how anxious you are.
Whenever you stop, stay away from the car in front, especially on the slope.
4, it is best to add some counterweight to the car, and the braking distance will be shorter when the weight of the car increases.
5. When driving, make sure there is no snow or thin ice on the soles.
6. Pay attention to lift the wiper blade after parking overnight to avoid being frozen the next day.
7. When it snows during the day, be sure to turn on the fog lights.
8. Never overtake or change lanes when encountering icy or snowy roads.
9. Try to stay away from bicycles to prevent accidents caused by skidding.
10. Don't slam on the brakes, release the clutch or refuel when driving to avoid slipping.
Driving in winter, the biggest fear is snow. When driving in rainy and snowy weather, drivers should do several things, such as "walking slowly", "seeing more", "staying enough" and "slowly but surely".
★ The first point is "slow": There are too many unpredictable factors in driving in snowy days. Driving slowly can give you more time to judge and make correct operations. Drivers who drive manual gears should lift the clutch as slowly as possible when starting on icy roads. The computer of the EFI vehicle will automatically adjust the fuel injection quantity according to the load, and output more torque, so that the power of the engine can be released to the driving wheels smoothly. It is forbidden to lift the clutch with the big foot accelerator, which is not only not conducive to starting, but also easy to cause the vehicle to slip, lose direction control and accidentally hit other vehicles. For automatic transmission vehicles, if the vehicle itself has snow mode, it should be shifted to the snow gear in time; for vehicles without snow mode, it should be shifted to the corresponding "3", "2" or "1" booster gear according to the adhesion degree of the specific road surface to ensure good torque of the vehicle on the snow and ice road surface.
Learning to use brakes is also very helpful for safe driving in snow. For manual transmission models, except when parking, as long as the car is moving, try not to brake in neutral, because the speed can be reduced faster with the help of the engine's own deceleration. For automatic transmission models, neutral slippage is absolutely not allowed, otherwise it will lead to poor lubrication and premature wear of some parts. For vehicles without ABS, neutral braking is not allowed, because if the control is slightly poor, it is easy to lock the tires. Once the front wheel is locked, it will completely lose control of the driving direction, and the car will drive along the inertial driving direction. At this time, turning the steering wheel will be powerless. If the handbrake is locked by the rear wheel, the vehicle will swing sideways and lose control of the direction. The correct braking method is to step on the brake with a block. Don't step on the brake pedal at once, but push hard step by step. If you step on the brakes at once, the engine is likely to lose power because the wheels are locked, which will also lead to the vehicle losing control. If emergency deceleration from high speed is needed, it can be achieved by braking and quick downshift. For example, if the car in front stops suddenly when driving at a speed of 80km/h, you can immediately step on the brake, step on the clutch with your left foot, and quickly shift the gear to the second gear or 1 gear, but this is only for emergencies, because improper operation may damage your car.
★ The second point is "look more": As the saying goes, it is true to look at all directions with your eyes and listen to all directions. The sight of snow and fog is not good. If you don't leave a few hearts, hidden dangers may be around. In winter, due to the large temperature difference between the inside and outside of the car, it is easy to fog on the glass. In this case, the front and rear windshield defogging switches should be turned on in time, and the air supply direction of the air conditioner should be adjusted to the "windshield" position for cars without heating wires on the front windshield to ensure good driving sight. In addition to observing the road ahead and the three rearview mirrors, we should also pay attention to the cars on both sides and in front, so as to make an earlier judgment. Try not to change lanes frequently. If necessary, turn on the turn signal first, then look at the road conditions through the rearview mirror before changing lanes.
★ Third, pay attention to the "allowance": when driving, leave more for yourself or others, and don't fight for the road. Always keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, and slow down in advance in case of any situation. When you find that the front car is braking, you should immediately collect the oil and prepare to step on the brake pedal. When braking, look at the distance behind the car. If the rear car is too close, it is best to slow down and brake when there is a large space with the front car. Although the rear-end collision is the responsibility of the rear car, repairing the car is your own time.
★ The fourth point is to be "steady": when driving in snowy days, try to avoid jerking in the direction, jerking off, and braking suddenly. All actions should be half a beat slower than usual, especially when leaving the main road, turning right, crossing the road and crossing the intersection, pay more attention to pedestrians and bicycles. When climbing a steep slope in ice and snow, pay attention to the distance between the front and rear cars, hang the low gear and keep the throttle steady to climb up, and try not to shift gears halfway. Because the low gear itself has a large torque, the wheel speed is low when driving, and it is not easy to slip, which can effectively avoid being forced to stop on the slope for slope lifting or rolling due to insufficient strength.
