Is the tortoise suitable for water or land?

1. Turtles are amphibians. If it is placed in a pure pond that is not connected with land, a platform, such as stones and bricks, exposed to the water must be placed in the pond for turtles to bask in the sun and rest. Turtles like to hide in holes, so they can build a turtle nest with bricks to improve their sense of security.

2. Turtles eat mostly in the water, and sometimes they eat on the shore. Food can be directly thrown into the water, or it can be placed in the shallow water area or near the water slope at the intersection of land and water. When feeding shrimp, you should feed it with the shell, which can supplement calcium, but you should cut off the spikes on the shrimp head.

Turtles like to eat meat and fishy food. Little turtles mainly eat meat. When they grow up, they can eat vegetarian food. Generally, small fish, shrimp, earthworm, loach, animal viscera, snails, crickets, a small amount of red meat, bananas, melon skin and so on can be fed.

4. The tortoise should bask in the sun, but not directly in hot weather. It is best to use a semi-shading environment. The maximum temperature of turtle culture water environment shall not exceed 37 degrees. Pay attention to shade the pool in summer. Generally, large-leaf plants can be used for shade.

5. Don't feed when the temperature is below 20 degrees, otherwise it will easily cause gastrointestinal diseases such as indigestion. The optimum temperature for soft-shelled turtle is 25~30℃, when it grows fastest.

6. The higher the temperature, the greater the food intake, but if the temperature is too high, the food intake will decrease. The lower the temperature, the smaller the food intake. The fastest temperature for soft-shelled turtles to grow meat is 28~30 degrees.

7. The bigger the turtle, the less times it is fed, and the smaller the turtle, the more times it is fed. Generally, young turtles are fed three times a day, young turtles are fed/kloc-0 times a day, and adult turtles are generally fed once every two to three days. During the spawning season, the mother turtle should be fed more, and before hibernation, nutritious food should be fed more.

8. Hibernation usually occurs in East China from June to April when the temperature is below 12 degrees. Just put the turtle in shallow water with a high back, in a dark and quiet environment. The temperature during hibernation should be kept between 3~ 12 degrees, and the optimal hibernation temperature is 8 ~ 12 degrees.
