Shaanxi, referred to as "Shaanxi" or "Qin" for short, is a provincial administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC), with the provincial capital An, located in the hinterland of China and the middle reaches of the Yellow River, bordering Shaanxi and Henan in the east, Ningxia and Gansu in the west, Sichuan, Chongqing and Hubei in the south and Inner Mongolia in the north.
Gansu, referred to as "Gan" or "Long" for short, is a provincial administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC), with Lanzhou as the capital. Located in the northwest of China, it connects Shaanxi in the east, Xinjiang in the west, Sichuan and Qinghai in the south, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia in the north and Mongolia in the northwest.
Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, abbreviated as Ning, is the capital of Yinchuan. Located in the northwest inland of China, bordering Shaanxi in the east, Inner Mongolia in the west and north, and Gansu and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in the south, with a total area of 66,400 square kilometers, it is located in the northwest of the four geographical divisions.
Climatic characteristics of Shaanxi province
Shaanxi province spans three climatic zones, and the climate between north and south is quite different. Southern Shaanxi has a tropical climate in North Asia, Guanzhong and northern Shaanxi have a warm temperate climate, and northern Shaanxi has a temperate climate along the Great Wall. The general characteristics of the climate are: warm and dry in spring, less precipitation, rapid and unstable temperature rise, windy and dusty weather; Summer is hot and rainy, with occasional summer drought; Autumn is cool and humid, and the temperature drops quickly.
Winter is cold and dry, with low temperature and scarce rain and snow. The annual average temperature in the whole province is 9- 16℃, decreasing from south to north and from east to west. The annual average temperature in northern Shaanxi is 7- 12℃, Guanzhong 12- 14℃, and southern Shaanxi 14- 16℃. The annual average precipitation is 340-1240mm. There is more precipitation in the south and less precipitation in the north. Southern Shaanxi is a humid area, Guanzhong is a semi-humid area and northern Shaanxi is a semi-arid area.
