What is a typhoon?

Typhoon is a deep low-pressure system, and its central air pressure is very low. There is an air flow converging towards the center at the lower level, and the air flow at the upper level mainly diverges outward. If the typhoon is cut horizontally, we can see that there are three obviously different areas, from the center to the outside: typhoon eye area, cloud wall area and spiral rain belt area.

Typhoon related classification:

Tropical depression-the wind near the center can reach 6 ~ 7, or the gust is above 7.

Tropical storm-the wind near the center is 8 ~ 9, or the gust is 9 and may last.

Strong tropical storm-wind near the center 10 ~ 1 1, or gust 1 1 and may continue.

Typhoon-wind force near the center 12 ~ 13, or gust 13 and may continue.

Strong typhoon-the wind near the center 14 ~ 15, or gust 15 and may continue.

Super typhoon-winds near the center 16 or above, or gusts 17 and may continue.
