Temperature: Temperature is the main factor limiting the distribution, growth and development of kiwifruit. Every species has a suitable temperature range, beyond which it will grow poorly or cannot survive. Most kiwifruit varieties require warm and humid climate, that is, subtropical or temperate humid and semi-humid climate, which is mainly distributed in the vast area of north latitude 18 ~ 34 degrees. The annual average temperature is about11.3 ~16.9℃, the extreme maximum temperature is 42.6℃, and the extreme minimum temperature is about -20.3℃ and 65438.
Kiwifruit populations have different requirements for temperature. For example, China kiwifruit grows well at the annual average temperature of 4 ~ 20℃, while delicious kiwifruit is most widely distributed at 13 ~ 18℃. The growth and development stages of kiwifruit are also affected by temperature. Studies have shown that when the temperature rises to about 10℃, the tender buds of Actinidia deliciosa begin to germinate, and when the temperature is above 15℃, it can blossom and bear fruit above 20℃. When the temperature drops to about 12℃, they enter the defoliation dormancy period, and the whole development process takes about 2 10 ~.
Soil: Kiwi likes sandy soil with deep, fertile and loose upper layer, good water retention and drainage, and high humus content. There is no strict requirement for soil pH value, but plants grow well in acidic or slightly acidic soil, and the suitable pH value is 5.5 ~ 6.5. It can also grow on neutral (pH7.0) or slightly alkaline (pH7.8) soil, but it often turns yellow at seedling stage and grows relatively slowly. In addition to soil quality and pH value, mineral nutrients in soil also have an important influence on the growth and development of kiwifruit.
Kiwifruit not only needs nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, but also needs rich elements such as magnesium, manganese, zinc and iron. If the soil is short of these mineral elements, malnutrition will often appear on leaves.
Illumination: Most kiwifruit varieties like semi-cloudy environment and are sensitive to strong light, belonging to fruit tree varieties with moderate light avoidance. Sunshine time requirement 1300 ~
Kiwi or Kiwi?
For 2600 hours, diffuse light is preferred to avoid direct glare, and the natural light intensity is 40% ~ 45%. The requirements of kiwifruit for light conditions change with the age of the tree. Proper shading is needed in sunny days at seedling stage, especially for newly transplanted seedlings.
Adult fruit trees need good lighting conditions to ensure growth and fruit. Insufficient light can easily lead to insufficient growth of branches and poor fruit development, but too strong light is not conducive to growth, which often leads to sunburn of fruits.
Moisture: Kiwi is a kind of wood with weak physiological drought tolerance, which has strict requirements on soil moisture and air humidity. The annual precipitation in China kiwifruit natural distribution area is 800 ~ 2200mm, and the air relative humidity is 74.3% ~ 85%. Generally speaking, areas with annual precipitation 1000 ~ 1200mm and air relative humidity above 75% can meet the water requirement of kiwifruit growth and development. In the central and eastern regions of China, there is sufficient rain from April to June, and the growth of new shoots is large, which is suitable for the growth requirements of kiwifruit.
The drought resistance of kiwifruit is worse than that of ordinary fruit trees. Lack of water will hinder the growth of branches, make leaves smaller, wither the leaves, and sometimes cause defoliation and fruit drop. Kiwifruit is not only drought-resistant, but also afraid of waterlogging. When it is poorly drained or waterlogged, it often drowns. Plum rain in the south or rainy season in the north, if it rains continuously and the drainage is not smooth, will make the root system in a flooded state, which will affect the root system respiration. After a long time, the root system tissue will rot and the plants will die.
Others: Vegetation has a great influence on the distribution and growth of kiwifruit. There are different species of kiwifruit in different vegetation types, such as deciduous and evergreen broad-leaved mixed forests in the transition zone between warm temperate zone and subtropical zone, deciduous broad-leaved forests in temperate zone, warm temperate zone and subtropical hills, Zhongshan and subalpine areas, among which Actinidia chinensis and Actinidia deliciosa are the most distributed, and Actinidia arguta and Actinidia arguta are mostly distributed in humid and semi-humid monsoon areas in cold temperate zone.
Therefore, vegetation types can be used as a reference for the selection of kiwifruit cultivars. Wind is also an environmental factor that affects the growth and development of kiwifruit. Strong winds often break branches and damage fruits, and sometimes seedlings wither and die because of too much water loss, so attention should be paid to artificial cultivation.
