History of Heshun ancient town

The ancient town of Han nationality is located in Yunnan, a big province of ethnic culture. Its environment is closed, traditional and stable, and it completely retains the characteristics of Han culture in China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is known as the living fossil of ancient architecture in China.

Heshun is an ancient Han town with a long history, which was founded in the Ming Dynasty. Most of the local Han people are descendants of Sichuanese, Jiangnan people and Zhongyuan people who worked in military and civilian villages in Yunnan in the early Ming Dynasty. In the fifteenth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1382), "Aquamarine and Mu Ying attacked Dali, and the soldiers were divided into Heqing, Lijiang and Jinya." (Biography of Ming Taizu) The five surnames Heshun Village, Li, Yin, Liu and Jia were originally from Chongqing County, Sichuan Province, and their ancestors were ordered to come to Vietnam with Fu Youde, Aquamarine and Mu Ying. The world is at peace, and the garrison leaps forward, all of which are sealed by military merits. For example, Liu Jizong awarded the general flag officer; Yin Tugong handed over the command to General Wu Lue; Cun Qing is the commander and strategist of the guard; Li Bo and Jia Shouchun also gave orders. Because Yunnan is far away from the capital and the border is constantly in war, the company commander of Yunnan was set up, and the Mu family inherited this position. As the ancestor of the five surnames of Heshun Mujia, he also had to attack the official and grant land, and stayed in the border area for generations, and then lived in "Yangwendun Village" (formerly known as Heshun). Liu's Genealogy records that his ancestors and surviving ancestors traveled all over Tengyang and finally found this place. They cooed: "the warmth of the four seasons overflows in the suburbs ... one or two people admire it very much and are reluctant to give up." Followed by Zhang in Hunan, Zhao and Chuan in Nanjing, and Xu in Henan. Zhang, Zhao, Chuan and Yang Yuming arrived in Tengchong at the end of Hongwu, and Xu's surname came with Wang Ji in the orthodox year. There used to be Zeng, Jiang, Qiu, Fan and Feng, and they may go to other places.

These people are deeply influenced by Confucianism. Some of them are highly educated. Although forced by life, they have left their homes, but they are located at the edge of the plateau. However, the harmonious village style, residential buildings and folk crafts have infiltrated and preserved the essence of Chinese culture in the Central Plains. At the same time, it is an "export-oriented" society. Wanderers absorbed the essence of foreign culture, exchanged and merged with local traditional culture, and created a regional culture with harmonious characteristics.

Heshun has the characteristics of ordinary towns, traditional urban buildings and simple folk customs. But there are more than 600 years of history and culture here, and there are many traditional houses that have experienced vicissitudes. It is understood that there are more than 0/000 traditional houses here, including more than 0/000 houses in Qing Dynasty, which are known as living fossils of ancient buildings in China; Its architectural styles include "three squares and one wall", "quadrangle" and "four entrances and five patios". Here, you can appreciate the charm of Huizhou architecture with white walls and tiles, and you can also find elements of western architecture. Especially the woodcarving of the doors and windows of the old house, all kinds of carvings are lifelike. In the house, the stone steps piled with volcanic rocks are particularly regional and can play a very good anti-skid role in rainy days.

Entering Heshun, we are presented with picturesque scenery, beautiful scenery, weeping willows and swaying green shadows. "The distant mountains are vast, the waters are melodious, and under the slopes of Wanjiapo, it is definitely better than Xiaosuhang." -Li Genyuan, a veteran of the Republic of China, once praised Shun in his poems.
