Jinghe county belongs to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Jinghe County: Located in the east of Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in the northwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The northern foot of Bolokonu Mountain is a branch of Tianshan Mountain, which is located in the southwest edge of Junggar Basin.

The county is named after Jinghe River. "Jing" in "The Story of the Western Regions" means "Junggar Mongolia" and "Steamed retort". It was called Shiqi River in the Tang Dynasty and Crystal River on the map of the Western Regions. Crystal is Mongolian, meaning "cool". During the Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Jinghe.

Jinghe county belongs to a typical continental climate of arid desert in north temperate zone. The main features are abundant sunshine, disparity between cold and hot in winter and summer, large temperature difference between day and night, dry and little rain, large evaporation and windy and dusty weather in spring.
