A few days ago, a friend suddenly asked me, I twisted my waist when I was sleeping. What should I do if my waist hurts particularly? I was a little puzzled. Later, he said that because I changed a new pillow, it was a little higher than the original pillow, and my waist might not fit the mattress when I slept, and then I accidentally twisted it. Indeed, the new pillow (suddenly getting higher or lower) made my neck or waist uncomfortable when I got up the next day, but my friend directly caused a sprain. For the measures, we will explain them from two time points: within 24 hours after sprain and after 24 hours:

Within 24 hours: Friends who like sports or watch sports programs know that the average athlete sprains his foot, and the doctors on the sidelines immediately take bandages and ice, and their treatment methods follow the principle of "no harm". H, A, R and M here refer to hot compress, alcohol, running and other sports, and massage the affected area, which means that you must not do these four activities within 24 hours after sprain. Similarly, the same is true of acute lumbar sprain. After you feel a sprained back, you should also abide by the principle of "no harm".

After 24 hours:

1. Hot compress: it can be hot compressed after 24 hours. Apply a hot towel or warm water bag to the painful part for half an hour each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. Be careful not to burn yourself.

2. Lotion and plaster: Friends who feel a little more serious can go to the drugstore to buy some oil and water from the wound, such as safflower oil and bonesetting water, and drop a few drops on the painful part. You can gently rub your fever when you come back. After wiping, they can stick some plasters for promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, reducing swelling and relieving pain.

3. Massage acupoints:

① Massage the pain point of waist and leg (see the figure below 1): The pain point of waist and leg is a strange point outside the meridians of upper limbs, and it is the first choice for treating acute lumbar sprain. Has the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, dredging collaterals and relieving pain. There are two points on the left and right hands. Usually if the pain point in the waist is on the left, press the point on the right. On the other hand, if the pain point is on the right, press the acupuncture point on the left. If there are pain points on both sides of the waist, press two acupoints. Generally, use the tip of thumb to knead this point along the metacarpal space, so as to have the effect of getting sore and numb and getting angry.

② Massage Weizhong point (see Figure 2 below): Weizhong point is an important point for treating acute low back pain, which has the functions of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, relaxing muscles and tendons, and strengthening waist and knees. There is a saying in Chinese medicine called "looking from the back", which means that all back problems can be treated by looking for the middle acupuncture point. Low back pain caused by acute lumbar sprain is mostly caused by tendon injury and stagnation of qi and blood, so knocking at Weizhong point has a remarkable effect. When we beat, we should straighten our legs and close them tightly, beat Weizhong point with the palm of our hand or tap, and rotate our waist at the same time, so as to facilitate the transmission of qi to the waist and back, and play a role in dredging collaterals, removing blood stasis and relieving pain.

③ Massage Shenshu point (see Figure 3 below): Shenshu point is a back Shu point, which can treat the problems corresponding to viscera, and the waist is also the house of kidney, so it is a special point for treating low back pain. Knead Shenshu points on both sides with the knuckles of the index finger or the fingertips of the thumb, and the strength should be deep and thorough. It is best to feel pain and edema, which can strengthen the back and stop low back pain.

The above are the measures to deal with acute lumbar sprain, which can be simply recorded as: "no harm" within 24 hours, and hot compress, rubbing and massage points after 24 hours.
