What are the similarities and differences between ground weather and high-altitude weather commonly used in weather stations?
First, the nature is different.
1, surface weather map
Ground weather map refers to a comprehensive weather map filled with various meteorological elements and weather phenomena obtained by ground observation at the same time.
2. High-altitude weather map
High-altitude weather map is a weather map used to draw high-altitude meteorological observation data. It is to fill in the simultaneous high-altitude meteorological observation data of various meteorological stations in the form of numbers and symbols on a blank map and draw various curves to understand the high-altitude meteorological conditions in various places.
Second, the analysis methods are different.
1, surface weather map
According to the air pressure values observed in various places, isobars are drawn at certain air pressure intervals, that is, the places with equal air pressure are connected by isobars. Through the distribution of these different isobars, we can clearly show the weather situation, such as where is the high pressure area and where is the low pressure area. According to other meteorological factors of each station, such as temperature, dew point, wind, etc., the position of cold and warm fronts and weather phenomena can also be analyzed.
2. High-altitude weather map
At present, the commonly used high-altitude weather map is the isobaric surface weather map, which is made by filling in a blank map with the meteorological data detected at the same time in various places and analyzing and drawing it. These data include equipotential height, air temperature, temperature dew point difference, wind direction and wind speed. Contours and isotherms are usually drawn to analyze the position, intensity and characteristics of weather systems such as cyclones, anticyclones, fronts, shear lines and rapids.
Third, the application is different.
1, surface weather map
Surface weather map can comprehensively reflect the near-surface atmospheric movement and thermal distribution, as well as the actual situation and evolution trend of weather in a short time, and is one of the important tools for weather analysis and forecast.
2. High-altitude weather map
Isobars of 850 HPA, 700 HPA and 500 HPA are commonly used in general weather stations. By matching the isobaric map of each layer with the ground weather map, the three-dimensional structure of weather system and atmospheric circulation can be analyzed, and the understanding of the evolution of weather system and atmospheric circulation can be obtained by thinking about the weather maps at different heights and times.
