Later, his grandfather heard that there was a large area of uninhabited wasteland in Rouyuan, Huachi County, which borders Wuqi County, so he resolutely took his family south to Rouyuan Liugou and settled down. Soon, Liu Maogong was born in Liugou. He kept herding sheep for his uncle until he was eight or nine years old. At that time, there was no school in Liugou area, so it was really difficult to learn culture. Fortunately, his uncle is literate, and he can read three-character classics and thousand-character scripts. When an uncle teaches his son to read, he often stands by and follows. This was his initial enlightenment education, and this life continued until he was fourteen years old. 1930, Liu Zhidan and Xie Zichang began to mobilize troops here. 193 1 autumn, together with Ma Xiwu, pingdingchuan in Heshui county founded the workers and peasants armed forces led by the first party in Shaanxi-Gansu border-Nanliang guerrillas. 1934, Ma Yangxi came to Liugou to start local work, often working with Mao Gong, telling the story of Liu Zhidan, instilling in him revolutionary ideas such as the Red Army is the army of the poor, fighting local tyrants and dividing fields, and actively mobilizing Mao Gong to enter the Red Army. Because Mao Gong is clever and eager to learn, he is not ambitious. He grew from an uneducated shepherd to a platoon leader, battalion commander, colonel, brigade commander, army commander and air force commander in the army, and finally won the rank of "Major General".
