After graduating from physics department of Peking University, why did you finally go to Buddhist College?

For a time, I was surrounded by a silvery white world almost all day, and I heard the roar of the wind besides it. The entrance to the hut where many practitioners live in the Buddhist College has been buried by heavy snow, and the overwhelming snow makes you unable to see a passage to the outside world. Even herders who have lived on the plateau for a long time are full of fear in the face of such cold weather. If the heavy snow continues, not to mention yaks, people will freeze to death. That is, in such an extraordinary period, one day in 1997 1 month, I saw several people carrying big bags in the distance, trudging towards the Buddhist College on Baiyuan Leaf. I didn't know until they came near that this was a group of practitioners who came from the Han Dynasty to study. The oldest of them is Mr. Zhou Pu. Will the world of ice and snow freeze their hearts of asking questions? Especially an old man like Mr. Zhou who can't be counted as a young adult. Giving fruit is exactly what he stayed in this group for the longest time-he lived for four years! The snow and ice will eventually melt and the grass will turn green. During several spring and autumn periods, Mr. Zhou's enthusiasm for learning Buddhism never subsided. As a physics teacher who graduated from Peking University, plus decades of rich life experience, I believe that it is by no means accidental or impulsive for him to learn Buddhism. Behind this choice, there must be his own deliberation. My name is Zhou Pu and I was born in 1939. My life was quiet until I graduated from high school in 1958. But just after the graduation exam, I was wrongly criticized for my speech, and then I was expelled from school. This is the biggest turning point in my life. Later, I was screened by the original school and was able to return to school, so I seized this opportunity to study hard and finally entered the physics department of Peking University. After graduation, I was assigned to be a middle school teacher in the countryside in southern Hebei. It was not until 1986 that I was transferred to the county annals office to be responsible for editing and publishing county annals. Speaking of my fate with Buddhism, it dates back to 72 years. In that year's Reference News, there was an article "The Immortal Master Sacrifices the Sun", which made me feel refreshed after reading it. Why can the remains of Buddhist monks in the Tang Dynasty be preserved intact for more than 1000 years? What kind of mysterious power is behind this body? As a physics major, I couldn't figure out at that time how this incident was extremely unreasonable to ordinary people. Does matter really never die? While I was arguing with other teachers about this matter, a strange thing we experienced personally subverted my sacred scientific creed to a greater extent. One night, we were chatting in the house when we heard the fence click outside. We hurried outside, and everyone was blindsided: I saw a monster fall on it. That guy is as tall as a man, and his big eyes are round and bright Under our siege, the monster began to run away. At this time, the most shocking thing happened. He became smaller when he ran away. At first, he was as big as a rabbit, but later he went into the hole and couldn't find it. Suppose it is an illusion, but several people did find it at the same time and saw the same thing. Suppose this is true, but this fact makes me wonder. He can fly off the ground without wings, and aerodynamics obviously can't help him. Does the law of gravity work for him? He is not at absolute zero. And "he" is getting smaller and smaller. What is disappearing? These questions are lingering in my mind, but I can't get the answer in that particular year. It was not until 1976 and 1977 that I met Zhang, the first teacher who guided me to Buddhism on my life path, that these problems gradually surfaced. I remember that the reason why I was quoted by teacher Zhang was because I saw his practice of practicing dharma, and later I learned that this may also belong to "first desire, then become a Buddha." Convenient for all buddhas and bodhisattvas. Teacher Zhang seems to see through my psychology of liking the new and hating the old. He showed me some small changes first, and then told me that the magical power is sacred and marginal, and maybe it is hopeless to become a Buddha and possess it! The most important thing to learn Buddhism is to open wisdom and bodhicitta. When I met Mr. Zhang, he was instructing several disciples to practice the method of breaking tiles in Hidden Secrets. In just a few days, a disciple's skull was missing a parietal bone, which could be inserted into Reineckea carnea, but his scalp was intact! What a wonderful thing it is! Teacher Zhang simply said that this is really a trivial matter in the eyes of Buddhists. Buddhism's practice of cultivating the mind allows you to change all material existence. As long as we understand what is the right view of Buddhism, what is the "three realms of idealism" and what is the nature of mind, we can realize that "a flower and a leaf are Buddha" is free to enter and leave the world. What makes me more confident is that an illiterate old lady, Lexin Brothers, also repaired the gyro and predicted the time. After she confessed a few words before she died, she immediately went to bed with a lion's auspicious and free and easy life! I began to approach teacher Zhang gradually, so I approached Buddhism. For a time, the concepts of physics and science in my mind made me very disgusted with Teacher Zhang's inspiration. I told him over and over again that our modern astronomy thinks that the sun will evolve in billions of years, and the earth will eventually begin to be destroyed under huge heat energy ... but Mr. Zhang listened to me with a faint smile, then took a sip of tea and said simply, "Are you deeply saddened by this?" In fact, you don't need Buddhism to believe that the world is empty, and there will be disasters such as fires when the earth is destroyed. It's just that we have the theory and practice of assimilating with heaven and earth, even completely surpassing any form of existence, so that we can live freely in the 3 thousand world. Believe it or not, what's more, our nature is lifeless. Where do we die? What is immortal, immortal, unclean, neither coming nor going is your reality. And even if the earth is destroyed, it will be like burning a house. As the owner of the house, do you want to be trapped? "Looking at Mr. Zhang's calm and confident face, I had an idea for the first time in my heart: the hope of mankind can only be found in Buddhism! More and more understanding of Buddhism, more and more admire the Buddha's great wisdom beyond everything. Especially when I came into contact with the Buddhist concept of Prajna, I finally made up my mind that this life should be used to prove the ultimate realm of life! In this life, we must strive for all beings to prove the perfect truth of life! Think about it, because it is empty, it can be displayed, and when it is displayed, the self is empty. In which school of philosophy can you find this empty realm? Emptiness is not terrible, it is just the result of getting rid of all spiritual and material constraints. I believe that it must be a great pleasure to prove Wukong's sexuality, and it is not strange to us, just like Zen said that suddenly meeting his father at a crossroads-so natural! What a surprise! Just as I was walking on the road of learning Buddhism, 1995, my guru Mr. Zhang died unfortunately. For him, "death" should be a kind of enjoyment, and he can finally return to the Buddhist ontology. But for me, teacher Zhang's death left me with two severe revelations: first, life and death are impermanent; Second, it is difficult to meet a master. Fortunately, Mr. Zhang left me the most precious legacy in the world before his death: he told me to go to Sedararong Buddhist College and stop great men such as King Ruyibao for life. I really don't know how to thank teacher Zhang! Two years later, in the coldest January of 1997, I finally understood the true meaning of the sentence "I won't forget my teacher"-Teacher Zhang sent me to a life "reconstruction field" that may be unique in the whole South China! I am not young, and I have experienced ups and downs for decades. If it is not worth seeing the Buddha, I think there is only one way for people like me who are over 60 years old, and that is death. When I think of the cold and darkness in the grave, I feel happy for myself. Although I am no longer a young man, I have finally embarked on the road of eternal youth. The road to fame and fortune in the world is for those who want to go. This road can only lead to the meaningless end of life. Although I am just an ordinary person, I believe that the road I choose leads to liberation, and there must be infinite light ahead! Mr. Zhou is sixty-two years old now. His youth was spent in an atheistic atmosphere. In his later years, he came to the snow-capped mountains, guarding a small house in the silent Laronggou, guarding his silver hair and practicing white Buddhism. Sometimes, I see him studying Buddhist scriptures with a pen, and his expression is really like when intellectuals are studying knowledge; Sometimes, I see him in the attitude of old practice, holding beads in his hand, chanting spells calmly. Every time I see his gray hair, I sincerely hope that more old people will wake up from the passing clouds when they are old. Look at Lao Zhou. As soon as you come into contact with him, you will feel that this person exudes happiness from head to toe. Although he is over 60 years old, no matter kowtowing or carrying water, there is no sign of decline. Not to mention the hope of life and death brought by learning Buddhism, which makes him happy and healthy, and anyone with discerning eyes can feel that Buddhism has reshaped a person's physiology and psychology. Mr. Zhou's situation always reminds me of the words of Pavlov, a famous Russian biologist, "Happiness can make you easily feel every beat and every impression of life." "No matter what physical and mental pleasure, you can develop physically and mentally and be strong." After discussing a Buddhist issue with me, Mr. Zhou said to me with deep experience: "If only everyone in the world could feel the joy of learning Buddhism!" In this way, they at least know how effective Buddhism is to get rid of troubles. " Recommended reading: Why did the famous scientist Pan Zongguang devote himself to studying Buddhism? The genius of Peking University gave up the MIT scholarship and went to the temple to practice Einstein: I would like to be a Buddhist. The amazing conclusion of physics is that the universe is just an illusion! So we are so insignificant! Physics is approaching Buddhism again: it is found that the essence of the universe is to recite the Heart Sutra 2 1 times every day, and the Bodhisattva walks her to Peking University to study for a doctorate. Empirical science is just constantly verifying why Buddhist practitioners can recite mantras and sense Buddha and Bodhisattva-what has empirical science found?
