General situation of Zhongshan
Zhongshan is the hometown of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of China's great democratic revolution. Located in the south-central part of the Pearl River Delta, on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, Guangzhou in the north, Zhuhai in the south, Jiangmen in the west and adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. There are 19 towns, 4 districts and a national high-tech industrial development zone in the city. The municipal government is located at Dongsongyuan Road 1. Zhongshan is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, with over 800,000 compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
Zhongshan was called Xiangshan in ancient times. Panyu County in Han Dynasty, Dongguan County in Jin Dynasty and Dongguan County in Tang Dynasty. In the 22nd year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 152), Xiangshan County was established, "the coastal areas of Nanhai, Panyu and Xinhui counties benefited from it". It belongs to Guangzhou and directly belongs to Guangdong Province after the Republic of China. Cuiheng Village in Xiangshan County is the hometown of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. In 2008+0925, Xiangshan County was renamed Zhongshan County. The main attractions are Sun Yat-sen's former residence, Sun Wen Memorial Park, Zhongshan City, CCTV shooting base, Sun Wen West Road Cultural Tourism Pedestrian Street, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Zhongshan Hot Spring, Quanlin Villa, Maritime Manor, Lingnan Water Town, Zimaling Park, Fufeng Wenta, Xiaoyao Valley, etc. Among them, "The Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen" is a national 4A-level tourist attraction.
In 2002, the registered population of the city was 1.36 million, with 434,000 households. The Han population is 230 1.8 million, accounting for 97.39%, and the minority population is 6 1.7 million, accounting for 26. 1%. The population living in cities and towns is 6066.00000000, and Chinese dialects are mainly used, including Cantonese, Min dialect and Hakka dialect. Zhongshan is rich in folk arts, including Zhongshan folk songs, dragon dances, lion dances, cranes, phoenixes and peach blossoms. Zhongshan is the hometown of folk songs. The popular folk songs include salty water songs, Gaotang songs, big songs, Hakka folk songs, crane songs, Gu Mei songs, fishing drums, dragon boats and minor children's songs, among which salty water songs and Gaotang songs are the most distinctive. These two kinds of folk songs have a history of over 300 years.
Since the reform and opening up, Zhongshan's economic and social undertakings have developed rapidly and healthily, with improved infrastructure and developed land and water transportation. In 2002, the urbanization level reached 57%. The total highway mileage of the city is1153km, and the national highway 105, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Highway and Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway run through the whole territory. There are three foreign trade ports in the city, 165438. It takes only 75 minutes by sea from zhongshan port to Hong Kong, and five international airports, namely Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macau, can be reached within 1.5 hours by car. In recent years, Zhongshan has successively won the titles of "National Sanitary City", "National Garden City", "National Advanced City for Revitalizing the City with Science and Technology", "National Environmental Protection Model City", "China Excellent Tourist City" and "National Model City for Smooth Traffic Project".
