Where can I find the e-book Diary of Merry ma?
Merry ma's diary drifted back to his hometown from France, and French middle school students were moved to tears.
French middle school students cried when they read Merry ma's story.
Tongxin County in Ningxia is a famous distribution center of Nostoc flagelliforme in China. The local purchase price is about 70 yuan per catty. At the age of 7, children in Tongxin County began to follow adults up the mountain to "pick up" vegetables. Merry ma is an ordinary girl in Zhang Jiashu Village, Wang Yu Township, Tongxin County. In Zhang Jiashu Village, no girl has attended junior high school. But a letter and three diaries changed all this.
Merry ma began to keep a diary from the fourth grade of primary school, writing down his desire to go to school and his worries about dropping out of school. By the time he graduated from primary school, he had saved six books, three of which were smoked by his careless father. When she was admitted to junior high school but her mother told her to drop out of school, she wrote a letter to her illiterate mother, "I want to go to school." The turning point of fate happened. When French journalist Pierre askey (Chinese name:) visited the village, Bai Ju gave her daughter's letter and diary to the foreigner.
In 2002, with the publication of Han Shi's long report in France and causing a sensation, Diary of Merry ma —— Daily Life of an International Student in China was published in France, which quickly became a bestseller with great influence and once rushed to the first place on Amazon's French bestseller list.
"When I finished reading Merry ma's story, several students cried. A student asked, Teacher, how can we help her? A middle school teacher in Paris said. I think she is very brave. Now many young people don't realize how lucky they are to go to school. " A French middle school student aged 14 said. Han Shi (Beijing correspondent of French Liberation):
For me, this is a lucky accident. Photographer Wang Zheng and I came to this place in Ningxia to shoot. A woman named Bai Juhua came to me and gave me three diaries of her daughter and a letter from her daughter. I took this diary back to Beijing, and after reading it, I went back to this village and published these diaries in our newspaper. On the fourth day, a French publishing house wanted to donate money to the girl. So I came to Ningxia for the third time. We helped some girls through donations and discussed publishing a book with Merry ma.
We didn't expect Merry ma's diary to have such a great response, and Merry ma was also named the boy of the year in the French publishing industry in 2002. I always use a drift bottle as a metaphor for the story of Merry ma. A desperate move changed her fate.
In France, we even set up a fund to help these children. This book has also been translated in Japan, Holland and other countries. Now it finally has a Chinese version, and it has returned to the area where the story took place, facing the readers it should face.
Merry ma:
These diaries were left by my teacher when I was in the fourth grade. My composition is the best in my class. I remember that my parents went far away to pick seaweed for more than 20 days and earned more than 70 yuan, but my eldest brother and I had to pay 200 yuan for a semester. I want to study, and I don't want to live with my face facing the ground but I don't have enough to eat, so my grades have always been the first.

I saw on TV that the Communist Youth League went to the countryside to help poor children go to school, so I thought it would be nice if I could come to our village. When I saw him (Han Shi), I thought maybe he could help my daughter. When Merry ma was in the third grade, I asked her to drop out of school, because there were never any girls in middle schools here. She asked me why, and I said that when you become a family and know your parents' difficulties, you will know why. She wrote me a letter and I asked her brother to read it to me. I know she is going to school, and I think she should go to school. When I was working in the city, I couldn't even tell the difference between men's and women's toilets. She can learn to cut hair or something when she is at school. Merry ma's diary

This time we had a week off, and my mother said to me, "Son, my mother wants to tell you something." I said, if mom has any questions, just say it! Don't take it to heart, it will make you feel bad. Mom said, I'm afraid this is the last time you go to school. I looked at my mother with wide eyes. How can you say such a thing? Mom went on to say, you three brothers and sisters go to school, and your father works alone in the field, which is too much for Gu (Gu) to come over! Mom, now that you mention it, it seems that I must go home. Mom said yes! Where are our two younger brothers? Mom said that you two (two) younger brothers still have to study. I asked my mother why boys can study and girls can't. Mom says you are too young to understand this.
I have no money to go to school this year. I came back to farm so that my brother could go to school.

Today, the weather is so cold! My brother and I have no steamed bread again. At noon, all the students are scrambling to eat. Only my brother and I stood there, chewing our upper and lower teeth. My brother saw me in tears and seemed very happy. He said to me, Sister, you wait here, and I'll borrow a ticket to buy food. I know my brother is in a worse mood than I am. He is comforting me and telling me not to think about him. I went into the dormitory, sat on the bed and watched him go. Uncle and aunt, do you know what I'm looking for? That's the bowl of yellow rice. I waited for a long time before my brother came and said I had no food, so I turned and left. I looked at my brother's distant back, and my tears could not help flowing downwards. Aunt and uncle, have you ever been hungry? I have suffered this unbearable pain. I wonder, when will I go to school so that I won't be hungry? Merry ma is in Beijing (1) $ 1.50: her pocket money for one week.
Time: 2 pm on September 19.
Venue: Friendship Hotel
Whereabouts: Interview with the reporter of Xinbao
At two o'clock in the afternoon of September 19, when the reporter rushed to the Friendship Hotel, he happened to meet Merry ma's mother and daughter who had returned from going out. Merry ma quietly followed her mother, holding a bag of apples in one hand and several boxes in the other. Only after asking did she know that a reporter had given Merry ma a repeater and a recording tape.
This is Merry ma's fourth visit to Beijing, and the fatigue of the journey makes the mother and daughter look a little haggard. The reporter talked with them for more than two hours. Merry ma seems to have a lot of experience in interviews. He speaks in an orderly way. After a paragraph, he always habitually added: "Yes, that's it!" Her mother supplemented the details.
According to the conversation, after the publication of Merry ma Diary, Merry ma's remuneration will be temporarily managed by Han Shi, and then transferred to Merry ma after she 18 years old. Now, Han Shi sends Merry ma the living expenses of 500 yuan every month. If there are other expenses at home, Han Shi will also send money. Now that Merry ma has bought a color TV and a motorcycle, Merry ma said, "My mother will laugh!"
Han Shi established a foundation with donations from Europe, and Merry ma also donated two-thirds of the reward to help children in Wang Qian town. The funding criteria are 700 yuan in senior high school, 500 yuan in junior high school and 200 yuan in primary school. So far, the money has enabled 63 children to return to school, most of them girls.
Merry ma's story has also made local parents reconsider their children's way out, and the proportion of girls in schools has greatly increased. Last year, there were only 137 girls in middle schools in Wang Yu, and this year there are 400 girls. "The top five schools are all girls." Merry ma said proudly.
Reporter: How is your academic performance now?
Merry ma: Chinese is the first in the school, and English is good. The comprehensive score ranks in the top ten in the whole school. (Merry ma said that the top 60 students in their school can generally be admitted to high school)
Reporter: What changes have taken place in your relationship with your classmates and teachers since you became a "celebrity" in your hometown? I hear someone worships you.
Merry ma: Nothing has changed. My teacher is as strict with me as other students. When I came to Beijing last year, my English teacher gave me two classes. Besides, she didn't give me a cooker. I have never heard of worship. I only joke occasionally. For example, if the teacher asks me more questions in class, someone will say "Merry ma, the teacher is too partial to you".
Reporter: How about school meals?
Merry ma: The food is the same as before. The staple food is rice (buckwheat rice) From Monday to Thursday, everyone eats their own pickles, which are usually finished by Friday. On Saturdays, they only eat the vegetables (fried potatoes) they bought, and there is a long queue, which often disappears in the middle. I brought leeks, which are salty and can be kept longer, so I haven't bought any food this semester. Meals and tuition are counted together.
Reporter: What is your monthly allowance now? I am rich. Have you ever thought about buying anything good?
Merry ma: One and a half dollars a week, five or six dollars a month. The biggest expense at ordinary times is to buy books. However, since the beginning of school, I have spent a lot of time in 92 yuan, mainly buying a pair of shoes and a suit (which Merry ma wore when she came to Beijing for school. She only has two new clothes, and the other one is for summer. If I buy snacks, my classmates will say: Look, Merry ma is rich and bought a lot of delicious food! I don't want them to say that.
Reporter: What do you think your ideal life is like?
Merry ma: At that time, there was almost no food at home. I can only eat potatoes at one o'clock in the morning (noon) and rice or steamed bread at eight o'clock in the evening. My mother's steamed stuffed bun porridge was divided by my brother and sister, and we all wanted to grab the most. We always feel hungry. At that time, I thought that as long as I could eat my stomach, it was the happiest life. Now I think I will be happy as long as I can live an ordinary and plain life. Merry ma in Beijing (2)

Where to go: The Chinese versions of Diary of Merry ma and Diary of Merry ma are called Children Who Love School. Merry ma, dressed in a small black suit and a white shirt, had no stage fright and looked natural and graceful in front of the reporter's camera. She skillfully signed the reader's name and answered all kinds of questions appropriately. In her own words, she stayed in Beijing for the first half of the year. Her mother Bai Chrysanthemum, wearing a red sweater and a white hat, sat by. They are flushed and always smiling.
Among the journalists who surrounded Merry ma, many came from the United States and France. They seem to be more interested in Han Shi, a reporter from The French Liberation. Their appearance always reminds me of the international background of this diary of rural girls in Zhang Jiashu Village, Wang Yu Township, Tongxin County, Ningxia, China.
At the launch of the new book, a child asked Merry ma what she had done since she dropped out of school. She said, I fattened my lamb. Merry ma also recalled a girl who grew up with her. She dropped out of school at 14, got married at 15, and became a mother at 16. "The last time I saw her was at a country party. I feel sorry for her. She had a baby at such a young age. So I am very grateful to Uncle Han and them, thank you very much. " /kloc-The 0/6-year-old girl could not help crying when she said this. She said, "Getting married is terrible."
Merry ma's mother told reporters that this is her second time to attend the release conference of her daughter's new book. The first time is the French version. This is her first time in Beijing. "I have a French version at home, but I can't understand it. I can't read Chinese characters either. I don't know what my daughter wrote in the book. " She told reporters that this diary was written by Merry ma from memory when she was in the fifth grade, because the one in the fourth grade had already been smoked by her father.
The organizer of the conference invited several senior one students and teachers from Hongzhi class of Guangqumen Middle School. Merry ma signed the book and left their address. The reporter asked a girl how she felt after reading Merry ma's book. She thought about it and said, I think I am much luckier than her. The reporter looked at Merry ma's signature, which read, "Knowledge is power, and knowledge can change fate." (Liu Yi/Pan Ying)
