But there is one place that you should know and remember whether you have been there or not, and that is the Yunnan-Myanmar Highway.

This is a road of honor for China, and it is also a mysterious go on road trip line that passes through the beautiful scenery of China and Myanmar. Along the way, there are snow-capped mountains, canyons, forests and lakes, as well as ethnic minority villages with different characteristics, such as Bai, Jingpo and Naxi. What is the Yunnan-Myanmar Highway?

The Yunnan-Myanmar Highway starts from Kunming and crosses Yangbi River, Lancang River and Nujiang River. 1937 when War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, the Japanese army quickly occupied the coastal cities of China, and the coastal traffic was blocked by the Japanese army. Neither international aid nor weapons can be transported inland. At the critical moment, the central government decided to build the "Yunnan-Myanmar Highway".

After the completion, most of the international aid will be transported to China via the Yunnan-Myanmar Highway. It can be said that without the Burma Road, China probably won't reach the United States. However, when people talk about the Yunnan-Myanmar Highway with relish, few people know how this road came from and the story behind it.

You may not think that this road was actually built by "laborers" living in neighboring ethnic groups at that time.

Men climb the cliff first, make holes, and blast rocks layer by layer. Then the old people, children and women below picked up the rubble, knocked it into small pieces and laid it on the road. The tools they used in the whole process were primitive tools such as hoes, axes, knives and dustpans.

In ancient towns, the pace can be slowed down. If you have enough time, you can choose to stay in an inn, bask in the sun in your spare time, get close to nature, and then visit Heshun Library, Yunnan-Myanmar Anti-Japanese War Museum, Zhongtian Temple, Longtan and other places to enjoy a picturesque life.

Little Shangri-La in Simiwadi's Dream

On the way, you must go to Simiwadi to see the undeveloped "Xanadu". There are 2,000 acres of green grassland with flowing water. Under the clear sky and white clouds, cattle and sheep walk leisurely here, and time seems to stand still gently.

There are not only the original ecological treasure landscapes such as natural grasslands and swamps, but also unique humanistic customs. Ten minutes' walk along the highway from Simiwadi grassland leads to Xiamianpi, a primitive village where Lisu friends live.

"Up the mountain, down the sea of fire" and "DuDu Race", they still retain the primitive, vigorous, mysterious and traditional national customs.

Mangshi Border Town

Set aside a day to visit the legendary "City of Dawn"-mangshi. Full of exotic customs in Southeast Asia, warm and romantic.

Longling has many relics of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, including War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression Memorial Hall, Songshan Battle Site, Japanese Bunker Site, Comfort Station Site, Japanese Command Site and Military and Political Course Site. This is an excellent red tour.

Take a trip to Huitong Bridge, the most legendary bridge on the Nujiang River. It used to be an important passage from Baoshan to Dehong and even overseas, and it was also one of the important bridges on the Yunnan-Myanmar highway.
