Why is Liuzhou so cold?
This year, Liuzhou suffered a rare low-temperature freezing weather: according to meteorological data, from June 65438+1October 10 to February 10 this year, the average temperature in Liuzhou was 5.5℃, which was 4.9℃ lower than normal, the lowest temperature was lower than 3℃ for 14 consecutive days, and the highest temperature in urban areas was 27 consecutive days. Low temperature and freezing have caused serious disasters to Liuzhou. Many citizens don't understand why it was so warm at the end of 2007 and suddenly it was so cold. What caused it? Meteorologists made a simple analysis of this. Cause of formation: Abnormal atmospheric circulation and La Nina event The cold weather in Liuzhou, which broke through the historical record, is an extreme weather and climate event, and its cause is abnormal atmospheric circulation and La Nina event. During this period, the atmospheric circulation was stable and changed little. On the one hand, the cold air in the north keeps going south, but the strong subtropical system prevents the cold air from going south, which makes the cold air meet the warm and humid airflow in the southwest over Liuzhou. The static front cloud system formed by cold and warm air has been entrenched in the area from northern Guangxi to northern Jiangnan, resulting in long-term low temperature, rain, snow and freezing weather in Liuzhou. At the same time, this cold weather is also related to the "La Nina" incident. Marine monitoring shows that in August last year, the equatorial Middle East Pacific entered the state of La Nina, which has continued to this day, forming the La Nina incident. La Nina means "little girl" in Spanish, which refers to the phenomenon that the sea surface temperature in the eastern and central equatorial Pacific Ocean continues to be abnormally cold in a large range. La Nina's appearance will bring some abnormal weather. Theoretically, La Nina will bring a cold winter to Liuzhou, which is exactly the case this year. La Nina is related to global warming. Myth: Global warming will not lead to winter. Global warming is really happening, and the world is definitely getting warmer and warmer, and it is getting more and more serious. "Global warming" means that the global average temperature is on the rise, which is said on a very large time and space scale and does not mean that it has been warming. The direct consequence of global warming is that extreme meteorological events such as high temperature, heavy rain and strong wind occur more and more frequently and with increasing intensity. Relatively speaking, the frequency of severe cold decreases, but in some special cases, global warming will also lead to local cooling. In other words, in the context of global warming, extreme weather is not only extremely hot, but also includes snowstorms and extremely cold weather. Although the frequency of severe cold is less than extreme heat, it does not mean "no". The intensity of severe cold can reach a high level, just like the high-intensity winter in Liuzhou this year. In short, global warming is a long-term trend, and its impact is not isolated. Winter is only extreme weather, and global warming does not rule out severe cold in some places. The two are not contradictory. Perhaps the audience who watched the Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster "The Day After Tomorrow" will still remember the story told in this film: that is, due to global warming, the earth cooled sharply in one day and entered the ice age ... Impact: the extreme weather in Liuzhou increased. Due to global warming, the climate in Liuzhou may not be so stable. Judging from the recent two years, there have been many extreme weather events in Liuzhou that exceed the meteorological records. For example, on June 13, 2006, the 24-hour precipitation in the urban area reached more than 200 mm, breaking the historical record; Last winter, the temperature in northern Liuzhou exceeded the extreme value, making it the warmest winter on record. With more and more extreme weather events, combined with the severe disasters caused by low temperature, rain, snow and freezing weather in Liuzhou and even the whole southern region this year, an important revelation is that paying attention to climate change and how to deal with it effectively should be a factor that we must consider when making economic decisions.
