Typhoon grades are divided into six grades: super typhoon, strong typhoon, typhoon, strong tropical storm, tropical storm and tropical depression. The harm they bring is also different.

Super typhoon: Super typhoon refers to the maximum average wind speed near the bottom center ≥ 5 1.0m/s, that is, 16 or more, which is the most violent classification of tropical cyclones in the northwest Pacific, that is, the maximum sustained wind speed is as low as 160km/h and as high as 240km. Strong typhoon: It has brought abundant rain to vast areas and become a rainfall system closely related to human life and production. However, strong typhoons always bring all kinds of damage. Because of its sudden and destructive power, it is one of the most serious natural disasters in the world. It will lead to tidal flood, seawall burst, washed away houses and various building facilities, flooded towns and farmland, and caused a large number of casualties and property losses. Storm surge will also cause coastal erosion and land salinization caused by seawater intrusion.

Typhoon: Its harmfulness mainly includes three aspects: ① gale. The maximum wind force near the center of tropical cyclone reaching typhoon level is above 12. ② Heavy rain. Typhoon is one of the weather systems that bring heavy rain. The area where the typhoon passes may produce rainfall of 150 ~ 300 mm, and a few typhoons may directly or indirectly produce rainstorm above 150~300mm, such as (indirectly) the rainstorm in southern Henan after tropical cyclone No.3 +0975 landed, which broke the rainfall records in some areas (Henan 75.8 incident) ③ storm surge. Generally, typhoons will increase water in coastal waters, and the maximum water increase in coastal areas of Jiangsu Province can reach 3m. Typhoon "9608" and "97 1 1" increased water, which made Jiangsu's coastal areas along the Yangtze River have a super-historical climax. Typhoon often brings stormy weather when crossing the border, causing huge waves on the sea surface, which seriously threatens the safety of navigation. After the typhoon landed, the storm surge may destroy crops and various building facilities, causing great losses to people's lives and property.

Severe tropical storms: The global losses caused by severe tropical storms are as high as $6 billion to $7 billion every year, and the loss of life caused by storm surges, rainstorms, floods and storms accounts for 60% of all natural disasters. The Pacific Northwest, which borders China, is the most restless ocean in the world and belongs to the "hardest hit" of natural disasters. Every year in midsummer and early autumn, the southeast coast of China is often hit by typhoons. Among them, there are nearly 20 typhoons that cause disasters every year, which is equivalent to four times that of the United States and 30 times that of Russia. Typhoon is the most serious disaster in the coastal areas of China. Tropical storms are the most destructive of all natural disasters, and hurricanes sweep inland from the ocean every year. Strong winds and storms left only a mess.

Tropical storm: Tropical storm is a kind of tropical cyclone, and the continuous wind force near its center is 63-87 kilometers per hour, that is, the wind force of strong wind level. At the same time, it will bring heavy rain and even floods.

Tropical depression: equivalent to 6-7 gale, which will bring heavy rain.
