Lizhou district is located between east longitude10527 ′ and10604 ′ and north latitude/3219 ′ and 3237 ′, bordering on wangcang county in the east and Jiange county and Zhao Hua district (former Yuan Dynasty) in the south, with an area of1538.50016.0000000000605
Lizhou District is located in the northeast, high in the northwest and low in the middle, forming a special geographical environment of Zhongshan District in the north, shallow hills and flat dams in the middle valley and low mountains in the south. 70% of the whole area belongs to mountain type.
The mountain peaks in the territory belong to the remnant veins of Micang Mountain in the west, Minshan Mountain in the east and Longmen Mountain in the northeast. Huangshan Mountain in Baichao Township in the northwest of the highest point is1917m above sea level, and Niusaiba on Jialing River in the south of the lowest point is 454m above sea level. The territory is divided into five mountain systems: Daguang, Gentai, Huangjiao, Yuntai and Nanshan by the four major water systems of Jialing River, Bailong River, Qingjiang River and Nanhe River.

At the beginning of the Republic of China, Lizhou District belonged to Jialing Road. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), Guangyuan County was under the 14th administrative supervision area (Jiange District) of Sichuan Province. In the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942), Wangcang Administrative Office was established in the east of Guangyuan County, and 1945 was transformed into wangcang county.
1949 65438+February 14, Guangyuan County belongs to Jiange District. 1952 Jiange Commissioner's Office was renamed Guangyuan Commissioner's Office. 1953, Guangyuan District was merged into Mianyang District, and Guangyuan County was changed to Mianyang Commissioner's Office. 1959 Zhao Hua County was abolished and 33 communes in 5 districts were incorporated into Guangyuan County.
1February, 1985, Guangyuan county was abolished and a prefecture-level Guangyuan city was established, and the original Guangyuan county was changed to the central district. 1989, Shizhong District was divided into two county-level districts (municipal districts): Yuanba District and Chaotian District. In March 2007, with the approval of the State Council, Shizhong District was renamed as Lizhou District.
