At the beginning of the Republic of China, Lizhou District belonged to Jialing Road. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), Guangyuan County was under the 14th administrative supervision area (Jiange District) of Sichuan Province. In the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942), Wangcang Administrative Office was established in the east of Guangyuan County, and 1945 was transformed into wangcang county.

1949 65438+February 14, Guangyuan County belongs to Jiange District. 1952 Jiange Commissioner's Office was renamed Guangyuan Commissioner's Office. 1953, Guangyuan District was merged into Mianyang District, and Guangyuan County was changed to Mianyang Commissioner's Office. 1959 Zhao Hua County was abolished and 33 communes in 5 districts were incorporated into Guangyuan County.
