How to catch Monopterus albus

Summer is a good time to catch eels, and it is also the most plump and delicious time for eels. I believe many fishermen are eager to try, but there is a big difference between eel fishing and fishing, and many fishermen may not be able to start.

The first is the time to catch eels.

Monopterus albus is a kind of fish that needs hibernation. Therefore, the general season for fishing eel is spring, summer and autumn. Because the weather is getting colder and colder in autumn, eel is not easy to take the bait when it starts to enter the hole. Spring is easier, because Monopterus albus has just hibernated for a winter and needs a lot of food to supplement it. Summer is the fattest and most delicious time for Monopterus albus, and it is easier to catch it. So we'd better fish eel in spring and summer.

According to the experience of fishing friends, it is easiest to fish every rainy day, especially before a thunderstorm.

Second, how to find eels

The premise of fishing eel is to find it first, so finding the eel hole is the key. In fact, you can find Monopterus albus in many natural waters, especially in old mud ponds, farmland, ditches and other places with wet soil. If there is a hole near the waterline, it is basically a eel hole. From the size and traces of the hole, we can judge the size of the eel and whether there are any eels coming in and out recently.

Third, bait for fishing eels.

Monopterus albus likes to eat fresh bait. Earthworms, especially stout green earthworms, are the favorite of Monopterus albus, followed by red earthworms. Other larvae such as small fish, shrimp, aquatic and terrestrial insects are also commonly used as bait for Monopterus albus.

4. Monopterus albus fishing gear

A self-made steel wire hook is often used to catch eels. Take a steel wire with a length of about 60 cm and a diameter of 1~ 1.2mm, sharpen one end, and bend it into a hook shape according to the hook width and hook tip length of Yi Shi No.5 ~ 6 hook. Then the remaining length of the steel wire is used as the hook handle, and the other end is fixed on the wooden handle, so that the eel can be caught in the eel hole through the bait.

The other is a short stick, which can be hard or soft and its length is uncertain. The thread group is generally thick, and the hook is generally hooked with a long-handled crane mouth.

Five, the method of fishing eel

Like using earthworms as bait. Pierce the hook from the head and put the earthworm's body on the hook. After finding the hole of Monopterus albus, gently probe the hook into the hole, and then bounce your fingers on the water to make a sound to lure Monopterus albus to bite the hook. Or slowly pull the hook back and forth to lure the eel to bite the hook. Generally, as long as there are eels in the cave, several trips to Doby will come for food. When the hand feels that the eel has bitten the hook, it should push the hook handle forward so as to put the hook into the fish mouth, then turn the hook handle to fasten the hook tip, and then slowly pull out the hook handle. This action should be slow, otherwise it is easy to hook the fish's mouth and cause the fish to run away.
