What is the baby's low fever?

If the baby has a fever, parents are anxious and worried, so how to solve it?

How many degrees does the baby have a low fever?

Low fever refers to a body temperature of 37.3℃-38℃. Long-term low fever refers to continuous fever for more than two weeks, excluding intermittent fever.

Generally, the so-called normal body temperature is 37℃, and then 0.8℃, which is normal within this range. The anus temperature of children is 36.2℃-38℃, while the oral temperature is 35.8℃-38.4℃, which is normal body temperature. If it exceeds this range, we regard him as a child with a fever, and the degree of low fever is limited to about 37.3℃-38℃.

Causes of baby's long-term low fever

1, physical reasons: the baby's own metabolism is fast, and the temperature fluctuation is normal within 1℃.

2, weather reasons: related to the hot weather in summer, the baby's water supplement is insufficient, sweating is less, leading to an increase in body temperature. When the weather turns cold, the baby's temperature will return to normal.

3, dietary factors: the baby has indigestion and food accumulation. He may have a low fever, and he doesn't like eating and vomiting. At this time, you may need to adjust your diet or treat it with drugs that help digestion.

4, infectious low fever: after the baby is sick, due to insufficient treatment, there will be repeated episodes, and intermittent low fever will occur at the same time.

5, low fever after infection: After the baby suffers from infectious diseases such as measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, bacillary dysentery, Japanese encephalitis, etc., the function of regulating body temperature has not fully recovered, and low fever appears.

6, chronic infectious low fever: such as tuberculosis, chronic tonsillitis, otitis media, sinusitis, urinary tract infection and so on. , causing the baby to continue to have a low fever.

7, non-infectious low fever: If the baby has blood diseases, endocrine and immune system diseases, low fever may occur.

If the baby's temperature does not exceed 38℃, it is generally not recommended to give the baby antipyretics, because the child's temperature regulation center is not well developed, and hypothermia (below 36℃) is easy to appear after using antipyretics.

What should the baby do with a low fever?

Physical cooling

Methods 1: Warm and wet compress

Applying warm water can also help dissipate heat, which is very simple to operate-

Specific practices:

1, prepare warm water, the temperature of hot water is about 30℃.

2. Untie the baby's clothes, wet the towel, and rub the baby's body up and down with a warm towel.

3. Change the towel every10-15 minutes.

Method 2: Ice compress

Mainly through the ice placed in the blood vessels of the whole body and the flowing blood for heat exchange and conduction. At the same time, it can reduce the oxygen consumption of brain cells, delay the damage of brain cells, and benefit the microcirculation of the body.

Specific practices:

1, put the homemade ice cubes just taken out of the refrigerator in a plastic bag, tie them tightly, cover them with 2-3 layers to prevent leakage, and then cover them with bread towels.

2. Apply ice packs to occipital region, forehead region, armpit region, neck region, groin region and other large blood vessels.

3, 5- 10 minutes until the high fever subsides.

Tips:

1, the ice pack should be wrapped with a layer of cloth to prevent local skin frostbite. If the baby is shivering, cold, blue or local skin is purple, stop using it immediately.

2, male babies should pay special attention to avoid ice packs touching the scrotum.

3. Using the prepared ice bag as an ice pillow has a good cooling effect.

Method 3: Use antipyretic stickers.

Antipyretic stickers, which are popular in Europe and America, have now become a routine cooling product for families in China. When a child has a fever, he can stick a piece on his forehead or other large blood vessels to achieve the effect of physical cooling. The reason why antipyretic paste can play the role of cooling is mainly because it contains polymer hydrogel, which uses physical principles to concentrate heat into the gel, and then takes away the heat through water evaporation to implement auxiliary antipyretic and local cooling. In addition, some natural medicines such as mint and borneol contained in antipyretic paste also have a certain cooling effect.

Specific practices:

1. Tear the packaging bag along the incision, take out the patch, uncover the transparent film, and apply the gel surface directly to the forehead or temple, or the cervical Dazhui point.

2, 65438+ 0-3 times a day, each post can be used for 8 hours.

Tips:

1, if the temperature is still 38 after using the antipyretic patch. If the temperature continues to drop above 5℃, you should go to the hospital in time.

2. Do not touch hair, eyebrows, wounds, abnormal parts of eyes and skin when pasting.

Method 4: Alcohol bath.

Alcohol can dilate blood vessels and take away a lot of heat when it evaporates. If the baby has a fever, you can use an alcohol bath to help reduce the fever. This method cools down quickly, and the body temperature will generally drop soon.

Specific practices:

1, take one part of 95% alcohol purchased by drugstore, add two parts of warm water and stir evenly for later use; If it is 75% alcohol, the amount of warm water added is the same as that of alcohol. If you don't have alcohol on hand, you can also use 60% white wine instead. When liquor is used, it can be mixed with 1 part liquor and 2/3 parts water, or ice cubes can be added to increase the cooling effect.

2. Wipe the baby's body with gauze or a small towel, which is generally a part with more blood vessels, such as neck, armpit and thigh root. These parts have fast blood circulation, shallow blood vessels and easy heat dissipation.

3. Rub in a certain order, from top to bottom, from left to right, until the skin is slightly red. Pay attention to the heat preservation of the rubbed body parts. Be quick, 5- 10 minutes at a time.

Tip:

Avoid the baby's head, face, abdomen, soles and chest and heart when wiping, so as not to cause adverse reactions.

Supplementary liquid

Helps to sweat and prevent dehydration. Water has the function of regulating temperature, which can lower the body temperature and replenish the water lost in the baby. The best way to check whether the baby has drunk enough water is to see if the color of urine is clear.

Hospitalization treatment

If the baby's low fever exceeds 1 week, you'd better take the baby to see a doctor. Doctors should choose blood drawing, X-ray and B-ultrasound according to the baby's symptoms. If the baby has a low fever for more than 2 weeks, the doctor may give the baby a more in-depth examination.

food therapy

Pay more attention to the baby's daily diet, increase the variety of food, pay attention to the softness of food as much as possible, and ensure the child's nutrition. Eat milk and meat (you can eat chicken, fish and so on. ) and vegetables (green leafy vegetables should be increased), while controlling snacks.

In addition, if the baby has a low-grade fever due to infection, and the doctor prescribed antibiotic treatment after diagnosis, you should give the baby a course of treatment (usually 3-5 days or 2 days after the body temperature is normal). If you stop taking the drug halfway and use it again, it will affect the curative effect, easily produce drug resistance, and may also make the condition repeat.
