Typhoon khanun's path forecast suddenly turned sharply. Why?

There are many factors affecting the typhoon track, among which subtropical high is the main factor, which makes typhoon khanun "erratic".

It is reported that typhoon khanun will make a sharp turn in the path prediction, once again "patronize" the northeast of China and travel between China, Japan and South Korea.

Let's first review the "growth" of typhoon khanun: Last month, on July 28th, the Meteorological Observatory announced that the No.6 typhoon "Kanu" had been generated this year, and it was upgraded to typhoon level at 3: 22 pm on the 30th, and upgraded to super typhoon at 17: 43 pm on the 30th.

By this month (August) 1, it is predicted that the typhoon will sweep the islands in southwest Japan, and it is expected that the southeast and northeast regions of China will be affected from the night of August 1 to the day of August 2, and Shanghai, Ningbo and Wenzhou will be affected.

On August 2, Kanu approached Zhejiang Province, and the coastal winds in Zhejiang Province were blowing hard. However, on August 3rd, we turned around, and on the 4th, we made a big drift bend 100 degrees, and went to the southwest of Japan, which was seriously affected. On the 7th, Kagoshima and Okinawa in Japan were once again surrounded. It's not over yet. It is predicted that Kanu will land on the southern coast of South Korea on the morning of 10, and then continue northward. It is expected that 12 will move into China in the morning, mainly affecting the northeast region.

I saw that Typhoon Cannon really turned one corner after another and "wandered" everywhere, almost without stopping for half a month. Even in today's advanced technology, there is no way to predict what the next track of the typhoon will look like. This sharp turn does not rule out that the typhoon path is affected by external environmental factors such as atmospheric circulation, ocean temperature and topography, among which the subtropical high is an important factor.

Most typhoons in the northern hemisphere are generated in intertropical convergence zone on the south side of subtropical high, which is the main driving force to guide the typhoon path. Generally speaking, the subtropical high is like a "guide", while the typhoon is like a child. The children will go wherever the tour guide says. However, the influence of subtropical high on typhoon is not static, and it will also be affected by other weather systems.

There is also a situation where the steering flow leading to this typhoon is weak and there is a subtropical high stronger than itself. Typhoon has no "guide", so it can only be played around. But when we meet in a narrow road, sometimes there will be a struggle between subtropical high, and a strong typhoon will pull a weak typhoon to rotate counterclockwise around itself. Equal strength, each other will "dance" around the same center counterclockwise. Typhoon khanun turned around because the subtropical high broke into three parts, and whoever was strong led Kanu away. This is a fact.

In either case, the original path of the typhoon may be changed, and there is no way for people to intervene and change the impact of such a major natural disaster. What we can do is to rely on the existing facilities for real-time monitoring, pay attention to the dynamic information of typhoons in real time, and take protective measures. Try not to go out in typhoon days to avoid being hurt by blown branches, billboards, etc. Prepare bottled water, dry food, lighters, candles and other emergency items in advance, and water and electricity are likely to be cut off in typhoon days; Doors and windows are closed; If you have a private car, try to park it in a higher place. If you park in the underground garage, you will be easily flooded and suffer heavy losses.

Never underestimate the typhoon weather, and be sure to take precautions in advance. After the typhoon, we should not be careless. Check whether your house is easy to fall down, dismantle it in time to avoid hurting others, and go out and observe more. I hope everyone can survive every natural disaster safely.
