What is the history of Mazu in Meizhou, Putian? Is it long?

Mazu is from Meizhou. Before she was born, there was a brother and five sisters at home, but her parents had been looking forward to having another son, so they prayed to Guanyin Bodhisattva every day. On the evening of March 23rd, the first year of the Stegosaurus in the Northern Song Dynasty, the neighbors saw a red light shining directly at the Lins, which made the surrounding rocks red. At this time, the mother who was pregnant in October gave birth to a baby girl, because the child was not crying at birth.

Maureen was smarter than other children when she was young. He can not only recite after reading, but also understand the meaning of words. Because her father was in the maritime inspection department at that time, she read a lot of books, especially books on marine meteorology, and went out to sea with her father every chance, gradually learning and mastering water and observing weather. Whenever she predicts the climate change at sea, she warns villagers to avoid disasters and often tries her best to rescue fishing boats and merchant ships in distress at sea.

Because of Maureen's charity all her life, many of her myths and legends have been circulated in history. /kloc-When she was 0/6 years old, she was called "Goddess" because of her magical powers, her ability to predict the future and her ability to cross the sea. One day, Maureen's father and brother went out to sea, and they were caught in a violent storm. Maureen, who was weaving at home, suddenly closed her eyes, holding the edge in one hand and the rafter in the other, stepping on the spindle and struggling to support it for fear of losing it. At this time, her mother just saw it and mistakenly thought that her daughter was asleep, so she woke her up. Maureen woke up with a start and missed it. The prism fell to the ground. Then she opened her eyes and cried, saying that my father had been rescued by me, but my brother had fallen into the sea.

Soon after, her father came home and told his family about the shipwreck. The result is exactly the same as Maureen said. In order to comfort her parents, Maureen went to sea by boat alone to find her brother's body. Because of this incident of saving relatives at sea, Maureen is also called "filial daughter". At the age of 28, Maureen died heroically to save the sunken ship. After Maureen's death, people who set sail one after another said that they often saw a woman in red rescuing people from danger at sea.

It is said that in the fifth year of Song Xuanhe, the court sent a special envoy to North Korea. Who knows that the ship encountered risks in the East China Sea. At this critical moment, it suddenly saw a series of red lights on the mast, and then the wind and waves subsided and turned the corner. The messenger was very surprised, so he asked his people what god was to save him. There happened to be a Putian man on board, who explained that this was to save the goddess Meizhou. Later, the messenger returned to the imperial court, told the Emperor of Ming Dynasty, and sent a letter to the temple of Shunzhi. At this time, the miracle of Mazu first spread from the people to the court.

In the Song Dynasty, the imperial court honored Maureen as "Mrs. Hui Ling", and later added the title of 12, from "Lady" to "Holy Princess", and added the title of "Tian Fei" in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. After Kangxi unified Taiwan Province Province in the Qing Dynasty, she added "Tianhou". By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the title had accumulated 64 times, and she was honored as the "Mother of Heaven".

With the award of the title, more and more people believe in Mazu, and Mazu Palace Temple has been rebuilt and expanded, from the initial small temple dedicated by the people to the large-scale reconstruction and expansion, and has developed to the present scale. Therefore, Mazu Tempel in Meizhou has become the ancestral temple of more than 3,000 Mazu Tempel in the world, and is worshipped by believers everywhere.
