Jiabang Terrace in Guizhou is an artificial art hidden in the depths of Moon Mountain.
In the documentary China on the Tip of the Tongue, which was once popular all over the country, there was a great mention of Jiabang terraced fields in Guizhou. Since then, I have always had a terrace dream in my heart.
Although I have seen many famous mountains and rivers, I still feel amazing when I first saw terraces.
Jiabang Terrace is located in the hinterland of Moon Mountain in congjiang county, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, with a total area of nearly 1 1,000 mu. Jiabang and Moon Mountain, two interesting names, are like Miao compatriots and Jiabang terraced fields that have lived here for generations.
The terraced fields are more than 80 kilometers away from Congjiang county, which makes Jiabang terraced fields far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and hidden in the mountains of Guizhou.
The mountain road to Jiabangtai has been repaired, but the road is extremely rugged. In addition, it rains from time to time in the mountainous areas of Guizhou, and I don't know how many turns the mountain road has made, so I finally got to the Jiabang terraced fields.
The most essential part of Jiabang terraced fields is concentrated on both sides of the road more than 20 kilometers between Dangniu Village and Jiabang Village. After Dangniu Village, there are scenery along the way. The advantage of enjoying terraced fields is that you don't have to be restricted by so-called scenic spots and hit it off.
It's April and May. It's the season when Jiabang terraces begin to irrigate and transplant rice seedlings, which is also the most beautiful time of the year.
Looking from a height, you can see terraced fields all over the mountains. Paddy fields of different sizes and shapes are arranged in an orderly way, layered and strewn at random, like the same glittering ribbons, depicting a picture with a strong sense of lines, which makes people feel relaxed and happy.
Standing next to the terraced fields, it is quiet around, and only insects and birds can be heard. The gloomy weather adds a touch of gloomy beauty to Jiabang terraces, and the clouds rising from time to time make people feel like they are in a fairyland. Although there is no sunshine, the terraces are still shining under the refraction of daytime light, showing different colors.
If the weather is fine, Jiabang terraces will definitely look different. Unfortunately, the sunshine in Guizhou is always so stingy!
Terraces are not uncommon in the world, especially in China, where there are many large-scale terraces. Jiabang Terrace can occupy a place among many terraces in China, and it must have its own uniqueness:
First, free.
Compared with the famous terraced fields in China, Jiabang terraced fields have not yet formed a tourist attraction in a strict sense, so they are still free.
However, the relevant infrastructure is already under construction, and the free days are not expected to be long. However, the task of poverty alleviation in Guizhou is arduous, and it is understandable if terraces start charging one day.
Second, there are few tourists.
Historically, the mountainous area of Guizhou where Jiabang terraced fields are located has always been a relatively backward and barren area, with very closed traffic and isolation all the year round. It was not until recent years that Guizhou vigorously developed infrastructure that Tongcun Highway was built to Jiabang Terrace.
Due to the late development, Jiabang terraced fields are less influenced by merchants and tourists, and relatively, they still retain a lot of simplicity.
Third, add the characteristics of hemp fiber and hat field.
Terraces are often built on mountains. The shape of the mountain, altitude and gentle slope determine the size and shape of the terrace.
Jiabang Terrace is limited by the unique terrain in Guizhou, which leads to the small terraces here. The largest is only one or two acres, and the smallest is only the size of farmers' hemp fibers and hats, so it is vividly called "hemp fiber field" and "hat field".
Fourth, Miao people have strong rural customs.
Qiandongnan Prefecture of Guizhou Province is a gathering area of ethnic minorities in China. In the hinterland of Moon Mountain, many Miao compatriots have lived here for generations, and the Jiabang terraced fields have long been engraved with the deep cultural imprint of ethnic minorities.
Overlooking Jiabang terraced fields, we can see the ancient Miao Diaojiao buildings dotted in the terraced fields, and the Miao villages that pass through from time to time have cast a strong ethnic flavor on Jiabang terraced fields.
Fifth, the beauty of fog-locked terraces.
There is no sunny day for three days, and it is rare for Guizhou to have sunny days. Clouds often rise suddenly in the mountains and sometimes form clouds in the valleys. Clouds come with the wind and linger around the terraces, adding a bit of aura to Jiabang terraces.
Terraces are looming in the sea of clouds, and suddenly they are completely swallowed up by the sea of clouds. When a gust of wind blows, the terraced fields in Jiabang will reveal their true colors, showing a magnificent picture of the terraced fields with fog locks.
Terraces have a very long history. As early as the Qin and Han Dynasties, there were terraces in China. Nowadays, many terraces have become photo resorts for tourists, but the value of terraces far exceeds the visual effect.
Besides traditional agricultural production, terraced fields are endowed with multiple cultural meanings. The seemingly ordinary terraced fields contain the wisdom, hard work and greatness of the working people, and are the precious heritage of all mankind.
-a flexible way to adapt to local conditions.
In ancient times, with the increasing population, people in mountainous and hilly areas began to face the problem of eating, but the mountainous terrain was not conducive to the large-scale construction of paddy fields. In order to solve the problem that hilly and mountainous areas are not suitable for farming, the ancients came up with a flexible method according to local conditions, cutting off the hillside layer by layer and building stepped farmland.
The birth of terraced fields is a helpless move, but it shows the wisdom of working people, and turns the harsh natural environment into the advantage of adapting to local conditions, which not only makes full use of mountainous areas, but also effectively improves grain output and solves the problem of grain shortage.
-Excellent way to protect the ecology.
Guizhou is a region with serious engineering water shortage in China. "Engineering water shortage" simply means that although there is a lot of rain, there is a lack of projects that can retain water. In addition, the karst landform leads to the rain descending along the slope, which makes it difficult for the surface to gather and the infiltration rate is fast, so it is often difficult to retain water resources.
The unique structure of terraced fields can greatly improve the utilization efficiency of water resources, conserve water sources and effectively slow down soil erosion. Terraced fields not only make it possible to plant rice in hilly areas, but also become an excellent method to protect the local ecological environment.
-Great works that conform to nature.
It is no exaggeration to call terraced fields "man-made miracles". Although it doesn't have the reputation of the Great Wall or Terracotta Warriors and Horses, unlike places of interest, these terraces were spontaneously built by ordinary people, without tyranny and coercion, and everything went with the flow, making the terraces more harmonious and calm.
Judging from the construction of terraced fields, every hurdle was dug up bit by bit with original tools. Facing the harsh environment of high mountains and deep valleys, they are not afraid of difficulties. After generations of efforts and sacrifices, they can build such a "work of art" with both practical and ornamental value, which is a model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
