After on-the-spot investigation, the geological disaster emergency expert group of the Ministry of Land and Resources thinks that the landslide in WU GANG Town of Guanling County is a rare compound disaster of debris flow, showing the characteristics of high-speed and long-distance sliding. About 500 meters later, the mountain collided violently with a hillside of Yongwo villagers' group in Dazhai village, WU GANG town. After deflecting 90 degrees, it turned into a high-speed debris flow and fell at right angles, shoveling away the surface accumulation of Dazhai villagers' group, which finally formed this rare landslide and debris flow disaster.

The formation of this catastrophic geological disaster is mainly due to the following four reasons:

First, the local geological structure is special. The top of the mountain is hard limestone and dolomite, but it has good water permeability and is easy to form caves. The terrain under the mountain is relatively gentle, and the lithology of the formation is mudstone and sandstone, which is easy to form water-rich zones. This "hard on the top and soft on the bottom" geological structure is not only easy to form landslides, but also easy to form geological disasters such as collapses.

Second, before the disaster, there was rare heavy rainfall in the local area, which reached 3 10/0mm on 27th and 28th, including 1 1 hour from 8: 00pm on 27th to 28th, and the rainfall was as high as 237mm, exceeding previous local meteorological records.

Third, the local terrain is special. The mountain where the landslide occurred is a "shoe-shaped terrain", with a steep top and a gentle bottom, with a relative elevation difference of 400 to 500 meters. Therefore, after the landslide falls, the impulse is huge, which not only forms debris flow, but also the sliding distance is as long as 1.5 km.

Fourth, last year, Guizhou suffered from drought in summer, autumn, winter and spring, which was rare in history. Heavy rainfall easily penetrated into mudstone and sandstone at the foot of the mountain.
