The weather in Santa Barbara, USA
San Francisco International Airport is located about 13 miles (2 1 km) south of San Francisco, adjacent to Millbray and San Bruno in san mateo County. It is a large commercial airport in California, USA, with direct flights to major cities in America, Europe, Asia and Australia. San Francisco International Airport is the largest airport and major international gateway in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. It is also the second largest airport in California, the twelfth largest airport in the United States, and the second largest airport in the world in 2004. The airport is managed by the San Francisco Airport Committee.
San Francisco International Airport is the main transfer station and maintenance center of United Airlines, and it is also the main operation center that Virgin America expected when it started operating in 2006.
The traffic at San Francisco International Airport is very convenient. Because the American highway 10 1 is nearby, passengers can enter the airport directly through the dedicated transfer passage of San Francisco International Airport. Interstate 380 in the north of the airport further connects the airport with other highways in the Bay Area, such as Interstate 280. In terms of public transportation, passengers can use the Bay Area Bus Rapid Transit (BART) station in the international terminal to travel between East Bay and downtown San Francisco. Passengers from Peninsula and South Bay can take California Caltrain to Milbiri Station, and then take the Bay Area MRT to the airport.
history
San Francisco Airport opened on May 7th, 1927, and its previous address was 150 acre cattle farm. This land was rented by Ogden L. Mills, a local landowner. The airport was called Millsfield Municipal Airport before 193 1, and was later named San Francisco Municipal Airport. 1955, the word municipal was changed to international.
Since 1935, Pan American International Airlines has been using this airport to provide services for the main terminal of its Pacific route China Clipper. After World War II, because the Ulun International Airport was requisitioned by the military, its civil passenger service was transferred to San Francisco, and the number of domestic routes suddenly increased.
After the war, United Airlines was located in San Francisco and used Pan Am terminals to provide services to Hawaii and other domestic locations. 1954, the central station was put into use. Jet service in San Francisco began in 1960s and 1950s: a large maintenance center was jointly built in San Francisco for its new Douglas DC-8 passenger plane. 1974 The new terminal building in China was completed, and the central terminal building became an international terminal building (now the second terminal building).
In the1990s, with the rapid development of economy and network companies, San Francisco Airport became the sixth busiest airport in the world. However, after 200 1, the economy stopped booming and SFO fell out of the top 20 busy airports.
SFO has been expanding in the past few years. The latest one is the new international terminal, which was built in June 5438+February 2000 and cost 10 billion yuan to replace the second terminal. This terminal has a world-class aviation library and museum.
Plane crash
On February 24th, 1964, 1964, Flying Tiger Flight 282 bound for new york crashed in the foothills west of the airport, killing three crew members on board.
On July 30th 197 1, Boeing 747 (registration number: N747PA, name: Clipper America) of Pan Am Flight 845 bound for Tokyo collided with the navigation instrument at the end of runway1r. The landing gear of the aircraft was damaged, and the aircraft continued to fly outward to dump fuel into the Pacific Ocean to reduce the weight of the aircraft during emergency landing. Emergency rescue was on standby at the airport, and the plane returned to the airport and landed on runway 28R, using only the landing gear on one side of the fuselage. When the landing gear could not bear the load, the plane slipped to the rotten ground outside the runway and stopped, but there was no fire. Passengers successfully evacuated by using the escape slide, and all passengers and crew members were killed in 2 18, and some people were seriously injured. According to the investigation report, the cause of the accident was that the flight dispatcher provided the crew with wrong load and runway length information.
On June 5438+1October 3 1, 2000, Alaska Airlines Flight 26 1 crashed in the Pacific Ocean near Los Angeles, along the flight route of Pudo Mlata-San Francisco-Seattle/Tacoma, killing all the people on board.
United Airlines Flight 93 was one of four planes that were hijacked and crashed from Newark Airport to San Francisco on September 1 1 2006. 1995, many flights to San Francisco became the target of Bojinka plan, a failed terrorist plan.
Terminal and airlines.
The first terminal (terminal 1)
Terminal 1 was originally named South Terminal, which consists of boarding hall A (rotunda), boarding area B (boarding area B) and boarding area C (boarding area C). After the renovation of Terminal 2 is completed, the boarding hall A will be demolished. The boarding gate on the east side of boarding area A of the international terminal is now blocked by boarding hall A, and it will not be opened until boarding hall A is dismantled.

Terminal 2 is under renovation.
The second terminal was named Central Terminal when 1954 was opened. From 1974 to the opening of the new international terminal in 2000, the second terminal was also the international terminal of San Francisco International Airport. At present, Terminal 2 is under renovation. After renovation, it will provide additional boarding gates to remove boarding hall A (rotunda A). Now the second terminal only serves as a channel between the first terminal and the third terminal. The boarding hall of terminal 2 is also called boarding area D. SFO Medical Clinic is also located on the lower floor of the terminal, adjacent to the baggage claim area.
Boarding area d (boarding area d)
There are no airlines operating here. It is generally believed that Virgin America will use this boarding area, but there is still no official news.
Terminal 3 (Terminal 3)
Terminal 3 consists of boarding area E and boarding area F, formerly known as North Terminal. The third terminal is used by United Airlines and American Airlines, of which United Airlines accounts for the majority.

International terminal (international terminal)
The International Terminal of San Francisco International Airport was opened from June 5 to February 5, 2000. It is the largest international terminal in North America and the largest building with base isolation technology in the world. It was used to replace the second terminal which was still the international terminal of San Francisco International Airport before 2000. The boarding area of the international terminal of San Francisco Airport is mainly divided into two floors, the upper floor is mainly used by restaurants and shops, and the lower floor is mainly the waiting room of the boarding gate. An interesting thing is that tourists will not find any ordinary fast food restaurants in the international terminal of San Francisco Airport, but will be replaced by fast food restaurants run by famous restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Because there is little room for expansion, the new international terminals are basically built on the main approach roads of the airport, which is relatively expensive. The advantage of this location is that the new terminal and the old terminal form a continuous ring centered on the parking lot; The disadvantage is that the new international terminal cannot use the original road system, and it must build its own complex interchange to connect with the American highway 10 1.
Different from other terminals, the boarding area names of international terminals are preceded by' A' and' G'. This is mainly to avoid the confusion between the boarding area A of the international terminal and the boarding hall A of the first terminal, which may be cancelled after the dismantling of the boarding hall A of the first terminal.
In order to improve the utilization rate of the international terminal, a few domestic flights in the United States use the terminal.
