What are the classification and disposal of medical waste?
Medical waste refers to the wastes that are directly or indirectly infectious, toxic and other hazards generated by medical institutions in medical treatment, prevention, health care and other related activities, including infectious, pathological, destructive, pharmaceutical and chemical wastes. These wastes contain a lot of bacteria and viruses.
But also has certain characteristics of space pollution, acute viral infection and latent infection. If management is not strengthened and discarded at will, it will be mixed with domestic garbage and dispersed into people's living environment, polluting the atmosphere, water sources, animals and plants, causing the spread of diseases and seriously endangering people's physical and mental health.
Medical waste treatment method
All medical wastes and domestic wastes shall not be mixed. In our life, what are medical wastes? For example, used cotton balls, emery cloth, adhesive tape, waste water, disposable medical devices, postoperative waste products, expired drugs and so on. All belong to medical waste. According to the medical test report of the national health department.
Because medical waste has the characteristics of space pollution, acute infection and latent pollution, its virus and bacteria are dozens, hundreds or even thousands of times more harmful than ordinary domestic waste. If it is not handled properly, it will cause serious pollution to the environment and may also become the source of epidemic diseases. The composition of medical waste is complex.
Including: susceptible garbage, pathological garbage, sharp garbage, drug garbage, genotoxic garbage, chemical garbage, radioactive garbage and so on. Because medical waste contains infectious bacteria, viruses, chemical pollutants and radioactive harmful substances, it is extremely harmful and is called "the number one killer" abroad.
If domestic waste and medical waste are discharged together, it will increase pollution and lead to the spread of germs. Therefore, the collection, transportation and treatment of hospital medical waste is imminent. At present, all medical wastes in China are incinerated.
Some big cities in China have established waste incineration plants or incineration treatment plants, such as Shenzhen, Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Chengdu, Anshan, Shenyang and other cities, all of which are harmless incineration of medical waste. The volume of residue after garbage incineration only accounts for 5%-25% of the original volume, and the generated heat can be recycled. The unified treatment of medical waste can reduce smoke exhaust points in urban areas and reduce urban air pollution.
