Have you been to the longest and most primitive Oriental Canyon in the world?

The Sichuan-Tibet Highway is one of the most arduous highway projects in the history of road construction in China. The Southern Sichuan-Tibet Highway was officially opened to traffic in 1958. The southern line starts from Ya'an and connects with National Highway 108, and also crosses the upper reaches of the Nu River. Today I will share with you the magical Nu River Canyon!

Nujiang, a famous river in western Yunnan, rushes from north to south. Of course, compared to Lijiang, Xishuangbanna and other scenic spots, Nujiang is not really a famous scenic spot. The transportation here is inconvenient, the facilities are backward, there are no star hotels, and the scenic spots are not concentrated (of course, I understand that there are scenic spots everywhere). But this is known as the longest, most mysterious, most beautiful, dangerous and primitive Eastern Grand Canyon in the world, with magical scenery and many large and small waterfalls along the way.

The journey to explore the Nujiang Grand Canyon lasted only three days, and the story started in Baoshan...

On a weekend in September 2017, the autumn air was crisp, and we set off from Baoshan , beautiful pastoral scenery along the way.

Crossing the Lancang River. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the mighty Lancang River rushes across the mountains and ridges.

"The small boat passed away from now on, leaving the rest of my life in the river and sea." On the broad river, a small boat floated away...

On the mountain opposite the county seat, there is the "Nujiang Grand Canyon" "Five big characters. For tourists, this is the starting point for visiting the Nujiang Grand Canyon. From here, heading north along the Nujiang River, we will embark on a journey to explore the Nujiang Grand Canyon.

Mountains on both sides of the Nujiang River

Scattered small villages

This is the Nujiang River. The further north you go, the mountains on both sides become steeper and the canyons become narrower and more beautiful. Deep and secluded.

The Nujiang Grand Canyon is located in Nujiang Prefecture in northwest Yunnan. The towering Biluo Snow Mountain, Gaoligong Mountain and the Nujiang River form a deep-cut Grand Canyon. The Yunnan section of the Nujiang Grand Canyon alone is 600 kilometers long from Longling Laoka to Gongshan Bingzhongluo, with depths of more than 2,000 meters or even more than 3,000 meters. The Colorado Grand Canyon in the United States is only 440 kilometers long, with a maximum depth of 1,830 meters. In both length and depth, the Nujiang Grand Canyon is much longer and deeper than the Colorado Grand Canyon. The Nujiang Grand Canyon, the Colorado Grand Canyon and the Yarlung Zangbo River Hangdi Canyon are collectively known as the three largest canyons in the world, ranking fourth on the list of the most beautiful canyons in China.

In the north of Chenggan Township, Lushui County, there is a place called "Lamaden" by the Lisu people, which means "Tiger Leaping". Here, there are steep and towering stone walls on both sides, and the canyon is extremely narrow. The narrowest point is only 10 meters. A black boulder stands firmly in the middle of the river, motionless in the rapids. This scene is similar to the Tiger Leaping Gorge on the Jinsha River.

The roaring, "angry" water of the Nu River is flowing endlessly! In fact, the word "nu" in Nujiang does not mean anger. The local Nu people call Nujiang "Anu Rimei". "Anu" is the self-proclaimed name of the Nu people. "Rimei" is translated into Chinese as "river", which is where the Nu people live. The river.

On the banks of the Nu River, there are simple small villages, layers of terraced fields, and the rice that is about to mature is green and yellow...

Nujiang Feilaishi, located in Fugong County Pihe Township Middle School. At 2:30 in the morning on March 19, 1983, a huge boulder flew down from the Biluo Snow Mountain and landed in the school dormitory area in the courtyard. Except for the small bungalow in the north, which had slight damage due to its eaves and flying rocks, the surrounding buildings It's amazing that he was unscathed! I think those who live here are teachers, engineers of the human soul, and God must be blessing them!

We arrived at Laomudeng Village in Pihe Township, a beautiful small Nu village located halfway up the Biluo Snow Mountain on the east bank of the Nu River. "Laomudeng" is a Nu language, meaning "a place where people like to come".

The picturesque Laomudeng Village

Passing through a country market.

There is a small village on the peninsula in the center of the bay, Kantong Village, which has an absolute canyon paradise feel. (Actually, this place used to be called the Leprosy Village. Due to the inconvenience of transportation, the peninsula was almost isolated from the world, and many lepers were exiled here for isolation.)

I saw another bay, called the Second Bay of the Nujiang River. The peninsula in the center of the bay is called "Peach Blossom Island". There are many peach trees on the island. In March and April every year, the island is covered with pink, just like the Peach Blossom Spring written by Tao Yuanming.

An abandoned suspension bridge on the Nu River, facing the Red Bridge. In the past, it was the only way to go to Wuli Village, Qiunatong Village, Zayu County and Deqin County along the Ancient Tea Horse Road. Now that a new bridge has been built, cars can finally pass through it.

Zipline on the Nu River.

In the past, there were no bridges on the Nujiang River, and the water flow was fast and there was no way to ferry. Therefore, the zipline became the only means of transportation on both sides of the Nujiang River, which is fast and convenient. Nowadays, many bridges have been built on the Nu River, and the zipline has become a tool of entertainment for local people and a tourist attraction for tourists.

This trip to the Nujiang Grand Canyon ends here. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, there are still many beautiful scenery, especially the mysterious Dulong River, that we have not explored. I found a beautiful picture of Dulongjiang from the Internet to enjoy, it looks beautiful! Just leave this regret and come again next time!
