Comprehensive list of cockroach types and pictures
The types of cockroaches are generally divided into the following three families:
1. Blattidae. There are the following 9 species: Oriental cockroach, Lihao's cockroach, Cantharis, American cockroach, Australian cockroach, brown-spotted cockroach, light reddish brown cockroach, black-breasted cockroach, and Japanese cockroach.
2. Blattidae. There are 4 species: Blattella germanica, Blattella universalis, Blattella germanica, and Blattella Kyoto.
3. Blattidae. There is only 1 species: the cane cockroach.
The most common cockroach found in the homes of urban residents in my country is the "German cockroach". Most cockroaches grow in warm and humid environments. Because cockroaches appear in Stephen Chow's nonsensical movies, modern people jokingly call them "little strong". The official name of cockroach is "Cockroach". Depending on the species, there are names or species names such as cockroach, cockroach, glabra, cane cockroach, and land bug. The most common cockroach in residents' homes in our city is the German cockroach, which is an exotic species. It is understood that the temperature in our city is suitable for cockroach breeding in summer. Generally speaking, cockroaches are in the active breeding period between 26°C and 30°C. After male and female cockroaches mate, one female can lay as few as 10 or as many as 90 oothecae. From one egg sheath, as few as 10 or as many as 50 small cockroaches can be hatched. Of course, this is also related to the type of cockroach.
Cockroaches can be artificially infected with bacteria that cause Asian cholera, pneumonia, diphtheria, glanders, anthrax and tuberculosis.
Cockroaches can carry a variety of helminth eggs such as roundworms, Ancylostoma duodenale, beef tapeworms, roundworms, and whipworms. They can also serve as intermediate hosts for various nematodes such as Echinococcus moniliformis, Hymenometa brevis, and Tumor tuber.
Cockroaches can also carry a variety of protozoa, 4 of which are pathogenic to humans or animals, such as dysentery Amima, intestinal Giardia, etc.
Experimental studies have confirmed that cockroaches can carry, retain and excrete viruses, including coxsackie virus, poliovirus, etc.
Cockroaches can also carry fungi. In my country, in Nanjing and Nantong, Jiangsu, a variety of fungi have been isolated from cockroaches captured indoors, including a large number of Aspergillus flavus.
Although cockroaches carry a variety of pathogens, it is generally believed that pathogens cannot reproduce in their bodies and are mechanical transmission media. However, due to their wide range of infestations and miscellaneous feeding habits, they can move around in garbage, toilets, washrooms and other places, and can also feed on food. Therefore, the spread of intestinal diseases and parasite eggs caused by them cannot be ignored. In addition, cases of allergies caused by cockroach body fluids and feces have also been reported.
Furthermore, factory products, store merchandise, and household food can all cause economic losses due to cockroach bites and contamination. Occasionally, cockroach infestations may cause malfunctions in communication equipment, computers, etc., resulting in accidents. Some people abroad call cockroaches "computer pests".
The seasonal rise and fall of cockroaches in different regions is slightly different. In Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas, black-breasted cockroach is the dominant population in residents' homes. Activity begins in mid-April. As the temperature rises month by month, the activity intensifies and the density increases significantly. July to September is the peak period of activity, and August is the peak density. From October onwards, the activity weakens as the temperature drops, and the overwintering period is from December to March of the following year. The seasonal fluctuations of American cockroaches in this area are basically the same as those of black-breasted cockroaches.
Due to the subtropical climate in Fujian and Guangxi in the south, cockroaches are active indoors all year round, but there are obvious growth and decline patterns: June is the peak period for both brown-spotted and Australian cockroaches. The American cockroach in Nanning showed a bimodal pattern in June and August.
Japanese cockroaches in Northeast China generally start to be active in early April. The density increases significantly in May and reaches a peak in June. The density decreases in mid-July and reaches a second peak in August, with 9 There was another decline in the month, and the activity weakened significantly in late October, entering the overwintering period. The seasonal growth and decline curve is bimodal.
1. To eliminate cockroaches, we must first ensure environmental sanitation and clean them in time, including bathrooms and sewers, and garbage must be cleaned up in time. Do not leave any sanitary dead corners in your home, do not place food in the open air in the kitchen, do not leave stagnant water in your home, and plug cracks and holes in a timely manner to prevent cockroaches from breeding. Check carefully, not even old computer cases. If you live in a building, it is best for the entire building to act in unison so that cockroaches have no place to hide.
2. First look for where the cockroach Xiaoqiang is hiding in the house.
Cockroaches like high temperature, dark and humid places. You need to pay attention to kitchens, restaurants, bathrooms, drainage ditches, trash cans, etc. where water sources and food are abundant. Small cockroaches can penetrate into cracks 0.5 mm thick. Adult male cockroaches can penetrate into cracks of 1.6 mm.
Female cockroaches with eggs need a place 4.5 mm or two coins thick to hide, especially small and tight gaps, such as the gaps between furniture. Any gap larger than 1.6 mm is a cockroach habitat. Places where paper bags, boxes, and corrugated paper are piled up can also create cockroach nests. Some people pile books, newspapers, magazines or cardboard boxes next to the refrigerator. The humid and warm refrigerator is a breeding ground for cockroaches, and these cardboard boxes become the best breathing space for cockroaches to move around. Cockroach nests are usually hidden in operating rooms, laundry rooms, heating boxes, behind televisions, computers, refrigerators, kitchens and sewer pipes. To completely eliminate cockroaches, you must find the nest and destroy the eggs. You must know that an average cockroach can reproduce into tens of thousands in half a year!
In order to get rid of cockroaches, you must do the following:
A. Clean up garbage and unused items, especially in the home Books, newspapers and magazines;
B. Check under and behind furniture, as well as in hidden places such as false ceilings, air ducts and wire ducts;
C. Cracks and gaps are best sealed by filling them with non-insulating materials.
D. All cockroach remains and egg sheaths must be crushed and removed to prevent the egg sheaths from hatching and causing further trouble. (1: Be sure to burn the ootheca 2: Flush into the sewer)
E. Try to avoid using plywood or ceiling walls for furniture. Instead, choose furniture made of aluminum, stainless steel, plastic, etc., which is easy to wash. , and has no thermal insulation effect, making it difficult for cockroaches to survive. It is best to place furniture and furnishings far enough away from the walls to avoid hiding cockroaches.
3. Understand the habits of cockroaches: what do they eat?
Cockroaches have similar habits to humans. They like starch-rich or sweet fermented foods, such as bread, butter, beer, fried flour, sesame oil, brown sugar, onions, etc. Among them, German cockroaches, which are common in households, prefer fatty foods, while American cockroaches like sweets and beer.
For cockroaches’ habits you must cut off the cockroaches’ food source.
A. Keep the residence dry and clean: Designate a strict eating area, and no food is allowed except in the dining room and kitchen. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the kitchen and bathroom and avoid accumulation of water.
B. Store food properly and clean up food residues thoroughly after feeding pets. (If you have cats or dog friends at home, you must pay attention)
C. The trash can should be emptied thoroughly at least once a day. Before placing the garbage bag, tie the mouth of the bag into a knot.
D. Don’t eat in bed.
4. Prevent cockroaches from entering
The pipelines extending in all directions are a rapid transit system for cockroaches to travel unimpeded. At night, cockroaches in the drains will swarm in groups and crawl indoors along the drainage pipes, drainage holes, walls, and cracks in doors and windows.
To prevent cockroaches from entering your home, you must do the following:
Install screen doors, screen windows, or add fine-mesh netting to drainage holes; cover drainage holes outside your home at night to prevent cockroaches from entering. Seal the holes in the exterior walls, floors and platforms where the pipes and wires of the split-type air conditioning system pass through or are left after the system is installed. Apply a layer of petroleum jelly at least 10 cm wide around the dry drainage hole to prevent cockroaches from crossing the hole; install wire mesh with a mesh width of 2 mm over the drainage hole.
5. Capture
Suddenly turn on the light to search for cockroaches from 8 to 12 o'clock in the evening when they are active, and kill the adults and nymphs. Before the cockroach breeding season, you can kill them for several nights in a row. Reduce insect density. Use hot soap or washing powder to scald the cockroaches, eggs and nymphs hiding in various gaps. Carefully fill and smooth the gaps in stoves, cabinets, etc. where cockroaches can easily hide. Bamboo and wooden furniture, drawers, etc. where cockroaches inhabit can be killed by watering them with boiling water. Use No. 0 ink and a little sesame oil, apply it on kraft paper, sprinkle a little sugar and stir-fry noodles in the center of the paper, put the paper on the stove, cupboard, etc., put it away at night and put it away in the morning. Cockroaches get stuck when they move. The general validity period is 10 days. HD and others also sell special stickers.
