Do I have to use an ID card to stay in a hotel?
When you check into the hotel, you only need to show your valid ID card to register. If you lose your ID card, you can go to the city police station to handle temporary id card. When you check in, you can show this card or other recognized valid documents.
A valid ID card contains the following types:
1. The valid identity documents for domestic tourists' accommodation registration are resident ID card, temporary resident ID card, China people's travel permit to and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, travel permit to and from Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions on business, and residence permit. Minors who have not applied for ID cards can register their accommodation with household registration book;
2, soldiers in addition to the use of the documents specified in the preceding paragraph, but also by the China People's Liberation Army, the Chinese People's Armed Police Force issued by the military officer's card, police officer's card, civilian cadre's card, soldier's card, student card and other valid identity documents for accommodation registration;
3. The valid identity documents of foreigners are passports, foreigners' permanent residence permits, foreigners' exit and entry passes and seamen's certificates;
4, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots valid identity documents include Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents to and from the mainland pass, mainland travel permit for taiwan residents, etc. ;
5. Domestic travelers who don't have valid identity documents really need to stay, they should issue identity certificates to the local police station where the hotel is located, and go through the check-in formalities with the identity certificates;
6. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents and foreigners who really need to go through accommodation registration without valid identity documents can apply for accommodation registration after the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ in the place where they stay verifies their identity and issues a certificate.
Article 3 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards includes: name, gender, nationality, date of birth, place of permanent residence, citizenship number, personal photo, fingerprint information, validity period of the certificate, and issuing authority.
Citizenship number is a unique and life-long identity code for every citizen, which is compiled by public security organs according to the national standard of citizenship number.
Citizens applying for obtaining, renewing or replacing resident identity cards shall register their fingerprint information.
