Tea trees in Yuexi generally grow in valleys on high-altitude hillsides. The ecological environment of tea garden is unique, with undulating mountains, misty clouds, long flowing springs, mild climate, short sunshine, large temperature difference between day and night, and moist rain and dew. The tea produced is plump, fragrant, fresh and green, which forms the excellent quality of Cuilan Yuexi.

Tea gardens in Yuexi are mainly distributed in the deep valleys, and most of them are between 500- 1000 meters above sea level. The tea garden is shrouded in mist all year round, and the tea buds are tender and plump. Cuilan Yuexi, Yuexi Cui Jian and Yuexi Cui Ya are generally produced around Tomb-Sweeping Day. Fresh tea leaves with single bud, one leaf in the first bud and two leaves in the first bud are used as raw materials, which are refined through multiple processes such as picking, spreading, deactivating enzymes, trimming, rough fire and full fire, and the production process is exquisite. After 1985, through the continuous research and innovation of tea technicians, Cuilan Yuexi series products with multi-grade, multi-variety, multi-style and multi-price have been formed. The series include: Yuexi Cui Ya, Yuexi Cui Jian, Cuilan Yuexi, Yuexi Chaoqing, Yuexi Broccoli, Yuexi Lu Yue, Yuexi Yellow Tea, Chuanlingxiang and so on.
