Is it reasonable for the hotel to check out without refund?

It is generally illegal for a hotel not to check out. According to the law, consumers need to check out due to force majeure. If the hotel disagrees, they can bring a lawsuit to the people's court. However, if consumers check out after booking a hotel without deciding or agreeing to cancel it, they need to bear the corresponding liability for breach of contract.

Article 497 of the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC) is invalid under any of the following circumstances: (1) It is invalid according to the provisions of Section 3 of Chapter VI of Part I of this Law and Article 506; (2) The party providing the standard terms unreasonably exempts or lightens its responsibilities, aggravates the responsibilities of the other party or restricts the main rights of the other party; (3) The party providing the standard terms excludes the other party's main rights.
