What is the legend of Jiulong Wall in Datong?

Zhu Gui, the thirteenth son of Zhu Yuanzhang, was enfeoffed as the contemporary King of Datong. Zhu Gui grew up stupid and eccentric, but when he grew up, he didn't read poetry, learned nothing and was incompetent. After she became the last queen, she ran amok, bossed around and killed innocent people, which made people feel uneasy and miserable. The common people secretly gave her a nickname: Being king in a daze.

The wife of Dai Wang in a daze was the daughter of Xu Da, a general of the Ming Dynasty. She is ugly: short and fat, with a big head, small eyes, a big mouth and big teeth. The facial features are reversed on her face: small places are big, big places are small, and they are equally ugly. She is so ugly, why did Zhu Gui marry her? It turned out that Zhu Gui was eager to get married. As soon as she heard that it was Xu Da's daughter, she agreed to marry home, but it was appropriate. Mrs. Zhu is ugly and gets angry when she sees a beautiful woman. The more beautiful another woman is, the uglier she is. Datong is a beautiful place, and the maids in the big palace are very beautiful and graceful. Mrs. Zhu sprinkled jealousy and anger on the maids, and often wiped the black smoke from the bottom of the pot on the beautiful maids' faces, "dressing up" them to look uglier than themselves.

In this way, Mr. and Mrs. Dai Wang made a fuss in Datong City.

Zhu Yuanzhang made Zhu Gui king of Datong. Zhu Gui didn't want to go, but stayed in Yingtian (Nanjing) Palace, crying and making trouble. Zhu Yuanzhang loved his son so much that he had to promise to build a palace for him as long as he went to the contemporary king of Datong. Therefore, Zhu Gui went to Datong to build a generation of Wang Fu, which was similar in scale and specifications to the Forbidden City. After the completion of the palace, Zhu Gui began to have an "emperor addiction" and was quite happy. After a period of time, he felt that the Daiwangfu seemed to have some shortcomings and decided to build a colorful glazed dragon wall in front of the Daiwangfu.

After people's craftsmen worked day and night, the Dragon Wall was finally built. On the day of completion, Zhu Gui, acting king, held a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony. Zhu Gui led the princess and officials to watch the Dragon Wall. I saw the magnificent dragon wall, the colorful glass was dazzling, and the nine dragons on the wall bared their teeth, walking in clouds and winding around, playing with pearls. Zhu Gui watched while drinking, thinking that the dragon wall in front of the palace doesn't even have the palace of Laozi Zhu Yuanzhang, which is bigger than the "emperor addiction". When I got carried away, I couldn't help shouting, "Good! This dragon wall is good! This is the first righteous long wall in this dynasty! "

As soon as the voice fell, the sky suddenly rolled with dark clouds and a strong wind. Suddenly, it began to rain cats and dogs. The acting king panicked and hurriedly ordered someone to light a lamp. For a time, the lights inside and outside the Daiwangfu were in a trance. Suddenly, lightning broke through the dark clouds, thunder was loud, and Zhu Gui, the acting king, drank too much. Hearing the thunder, his hands trembled, and he accidentally broke the glass, and his eyes were dark, as if a dragon had fallen from the sky. It turns out that the Nine Dragons Wall is lifelike, attracting the real dragons flying in the sky.

After a while, the soldiers came to report that there had been thunder and lightning just now, and two wells had been drilled in Jinbocang Street behind the Dragon Wall. The water in one well is sweet water, and the water in the other well is bitter water. There is also a folk proverb in Datong: "Jin Bo Cang, two wells, one bitter and one sweet." Another soldier reported that a big pit was hit by thunder and fire in front of the Nine Dragon Wall, and water gushed out. Zhu Gui, the acting king, hurriedly ordered people to build a puddle with a stone bridge in the middle, which is the "reflection pool".

The Kowloon Wall is spectacular and the people cheer. However, Kowloon was greedy for the wine and food offered by the people. After a full meal, it was crooked and drunk as mud. When it rains, nine dragons jump into the sky at the same time to make waves. In an instant, thunder and lightning and heavy rain poured down, which caused the river to soar and flooded fertile fields and villages. After the rain, the nine dragons couldn't sleep. Now it doesn't rain for another year, the rivers dry up, the fields dry up, and the people complain. The folk story of "playing with water in Kowloon hurts the people" is still circulating among Datong people.

The key words in folklore-Zhu Gui and Long-have become the carriers of folk ridicule. In fact, it is the common people who really carved the "Yi Long Wall in the World" beautifully, but they did not cheer for this creation, perhaps because it was a "forced creation". From this we can observe the difference and dislocation between free folk culture and non-free folk culture. No one can stop the spread of folklore that reveals public opinion.
