The opening ceremony of the 6th Beijing International Film Festival was held at the Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Huairou, Beijing.

On the evening of April 16, 2016, the 6th Beijing International Film Festival opened at the Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Beijing. Beijing Mayor Wang Anshun, State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television Director Cai Fuchao and other leaders visited the scene. On that day, Natalie Portman, Christoph Waltz, Lee Min Ho, Liu Ye, Yao Chen, Chung Hanliang and many other Chinese and foreign filmmakers gathered together. Famous singers such as Eason Chan and Jane Zhang took the stage to sing movie songs, including "Angry Birds".
