How is the house number compiled?

There is no uniform regulation on the compilation of house numbers, but the internationally accepted principle is to compile even numbers and odd numbers on both sides of roads and streets to facilitate the location and identification of buildings.

For example, the house numbers in Beijing are compiled according to Article 6 of the Interim Measures for the Administration of House Numbers and Building Signs in Beijing:

1. Arrangement order: East-west street, odd in the north and even in the south;

2. North and South streets, from north to south, with odd numbers on the west side and even numbers on the east side;

3, northeast, southwest streets, from northeast to southwest, northwest, southeast streets, from northwest to southeast, north side number, south side number;

4. The impassable hutong, no matter what direction, will be inward from the entrance, with odd numbers on the right and even numbers on the left.
