People involved in Shishou riots in Hubei were sentenced.

The court in Shishou City, Hubei Province sentenced five people involved in the local riots in June to two and a half to five years in prison.

On June 17, Tu, a 24-year-old young chef from Yonglong Hotel in Shishou City, fell to his death. At that time, the police thought he had committed suicide.

However, the relatives of the deceased refused to accept the results of this investigation and insisted on placing the body in the lobby of the hotel, causing a large number of people to watch. Later, there were rumors that the government was going to "rob the corpse" and cremate it, destroying the evidence and causing large-scale riots.

The prosecutor accused Tu Gaoyuan's cousin Tu Xiaoyu and his brother Tu Yuan Hua of "organizing and inciting riots" in order to compensate the hotel, and several other defendants were accused of "actively participating" in the riots.

On Saturday morning (10, 17), Shishou Court sentenced Tu Xiaoyu and Tu et al. 10 defendants for "gathering people to disturb social order".

Among them, five people including Tu Xiaoyu were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from five years to two and a half years, and five people including Tu were sentenced to probation or exempted from criminal punishment.
