To get a tax refund, you only need to meet the following conditions:

Shoppers must be residents of non-EU countries (that is, non-EU people with short-term visas within three months) and must take their goods out of the country within three months after purchase (that is, no later than the last day of the third month after purchase).

Nationality has little to do with tax refund, but the place where the residence permit is held shall prevail.

For example, a person of China nationality living in Germany cannot shop duty-free in Germany; German nationals whose permanent residence is not in Germany (for example, in China) can also apply for tax refund when they leave Germany after shopping.

What are the rules for tax refund items? The value-added tax of most goods in Germany is 19%, and a few goods such as books, health products and food are 7%, which is subject to the figures on the shopping receipt.

1) In addition to service consumption, vehicles and their accessories (such as train tickets purchased in Germany, restaurant or hotel bills, bumpers, rearview mirrors or gasoline, etc. ) can't be returned, other goods can be returned.
