Legends related to the Stone City in Baoshan, Yunnan
The steep rock peak to the north of Baoshan Stone City is called "Cibo Prince Pass" by the Naxi people. It was named in memory of Kublai Khan who led the Mongolian army through this dangerous pass. The army crossed the Jinsha River from Baoshan Stone City to Yange Nang and marched south to conquer Dali.
In 1206, Temujin unified the north and south of the desert and established the Mongol Khanate of military slavery. The Mongolian aristocrats adopted the strategy of conquering the southwestern tribes first, and then forming a flanking attack on the Southern Song Dynasty from the north and the south. To do this, they first conquered Dali. In 1253, the Mongol Khan Mengge sent his Di Kublai to lead an army of 100,000, divided into three groups, and directed towards Yunnan. In the middle, led by Kublai Lie himself, he crossed the Dadu River in the south, Jinsha River in the west, entered the east of Lijiang, entered the east of Lijiang, and attacked Dali in the south. In September of that year, Kublai led his army to the west bank of the Jinsha River. He ordered the soldiers to kill cattle and sheep, plug their anuses, and "order leather bags to help" for crossing the river (the location is now the first bay of the Yangtze River) , crossed the river and entered Lijiang, defeating the Dali garrison. This is the origin of the allusion "Yuan Kuai Le Nang" in the long couplet of Kunming Grand View Tower. The "Yuan Kuai Le Nang" promoted the unification of the Dali Kingdom by Kublai Khan and the Yuan Dynasty, and ended the split in Chinese history since the late Tang Dynasty. The "Yuan Kuai Le Nang" is one of the major events in the history of Lijiang, and the Lijiang area is the specific place where this event occurred. Although the era is far away, we can still find the historical traces of the ancient battlefield with the flash of swords and the shadow of iron horses and gold. Another legend is about the origin of Baoshan Stone City. Baoshan Stone City looks like a dragon head from a distance, so there are many legends about the origin of Stone City: According to legend, it was a geomantic treasure land, rich in rice and grain, and also produced many talents. . King Mutian was very afraid that the capable men and warriors there would seize his kingdom, so he sent people to monitor him day and night. One night, a star fell on Azhu Mountain on the other side of the river. King Mutian knew that a saint was really going to appear there, so he hurriedly took his sword and led his troops to Baoshan to take charge. Sure enough, one day when the wind was strong and the clouds were rolling, a gleaming dragon flew from mid-air to Azhu Mountain. As soon as it reached the river, it lowered its head and drank water. King Mu Tian was jealous, so he caught the dragon unprepared. He raised his sword and struck, cutting off the dragon's neck. This dragon turned out to be the predecessor of the saint A Zhushan. After he was killed, the dragon's head turned into Stone City, and the dragon's body turned into A Shushan.
