Route selection

(3) Take the Yang Family Car (Elizare) from Liuli Bridge in Beijing to Mount Wutai;

(4) Take the K601 train from Beijing Station to Mount Wutai (22:22-04:31 ) After picking up the group, take the shuttle bus and arrive at Mount Wutai in about an hour. Return trip: Take the shuttle bus from Mount Wutai to the train station and then take K602 back to Beijing; tourists from Beijing can take the train to Mount Wutai Station (belonging to Fanzhi County, formerly known as Shahe Station) and transfer to a bus; tourists from Hohhot, Baotou and Datong can take the train at Yuanping and Xinzhou Get off at the station and then transfer to a bus to Mount Wutai. If you go to Mount Wutai from Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Xi'an, and Zhengzhou, you can take an express train to Taiyuan first. There are long-distance buses from Wuyi Square in Taiyuan City directly to Mount Wutai. ?

Driving Precautions

(1) There are state-owned gas stations in the Wutaishan Scenic Area, and the highest grade is No. 97 gasoline.

(2) Self-driving tourists should not let strangers take the ride for any reason.

(3) When driving to the mountains, please drive slowly. Some road sections are narrow. Pay attention to the signal and never coast in neutral.

Travel Tips

Spring and Autumn Season: From early April to early October, the average temperature is between 10℃-20℃, and the lowest temperature at night is 8℃-17℃ between. Winter: from late October to early April of the following year, the average daily temperature is between 0℃ and 10℃.

Summer Travel

The Wutai Mountain area has high humidity in summer and there is often rain. You need to bring rain gear when going up the mountain. When traveling to Wutai Mountain in spring and autumn, you need to bring sweaters and woolen pants. If you want to go to the east terrace to watch the sunrise, you have to rent a cotton coat. From the Fanzhi and Shahe areas in the north, you need to pay attention to seasonal and climate changes when crossing Hongmenyan to Mount Wutai. Before May and after September, the highways that reach into the clouds are blocked by snow and difficult to pass. It is only passable for more than four months between May and September. Summer is the best season to travel to Mount Wutai.

Winter Travel

Wutai Mountain in winter is both frozen and snowy, yet quiet and beautiful. It is completely different from other seasons and full of another style. Although there are storms and heavy snow from time to time, it blocks the I can't stop the strong footsteps of pilgrims on Mount Wutai in winter. When visiting Wutai Mountain in winter, you should pay attention to hotels. In winter, 95% of Wutai Mountain hotels are closed, with only a few hotels operating normally. Therefore, there is little choice in hotels, especially on weekends when there are very few available rooms. Choose large hotels with high occupancy rates and sufficient heating supply.

Notes on self-driving trips to Taishan in winter:

① Pay close attention to the weather forecast. If there are strong winds and heavy snow in the near future, you must consult the local tourism department to take necessary measures or change the itinerary.

② In winter, all self-driving cars to Mount Wutai should take the Xinzhou-Dingxiang-Wutai Mountain City-Rucun-South route, and avoid entering Mount Wutai from the west or north routes with steep slopes and many turns.

③ The Self-Driving Alliance is your right-hand man to reach Mount Wutai safely. Road conditions are broadcast via SMS at any time to ensure you understand the road conditions leading to Mount Wutai.

④ Check the condition of the vehicle before departure, especially the antifreeze.

⑤ Bring anti-skid chains for emergency use.

Travel guide

It takes at least three days to visit Mount Wutai. If you live in the county town, you can take a bus north to visit Zunsheng Temple and Foguang Temple on the first day, and then arrive in Taihuai in the afternoon. Visit Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Luohou Temple and Bodhisattva Peak. The next day, we climbed Dailuoding nearby and visited Bishan Temple, Nanshan Temple and Zhenhai Temple in the central area of ??Taihuai. On the third day, you can choose a platform top to climb. If you take the Jingyuan Line in the direction of Fanzhi, you can climb to the east platform. Tourists walking by the river and Xinzhou can go to Zhongtai and visit Nanchan Temple and Longquan Temple along the way. Another travel schedule is to visit Nanchan Temple, Bishan Temple, Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple and climb to Dailuoding on the first day. The next day we visited Bodhisattva Peak, Guangzong Temple, Luohou Temple, Longquan Temple, Nanshan Temple and Puhua Temple. On the third day, we watched the sunrise on Dongtai, Jinxiu on Nantai, Golden Pavilion Temple and Foguang Temple. If tourists stay in Taihuai Town, they can arrange a two-day tour. On the first day, we first visited Luohou Temple at the foot of the North Mountain in Taihuai Town, then went to Xiantong Temple, and then visited Yuanzhao Temple, Guangzong Temple, and Bodhisattva Peak in sequence. Then we turned back along the original road, entered the east gate of Tayuan Temple, and exited the south gate. If you go east, you can visit the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Buddhas. On the second day, you can go to Dongtai to watch the sunrise, then visit Bishan Temple. In the afternoon, you can visit Zhenhai Temple, Puhua Temple, Guanyin Cave and Nanshan Temple.

Note

The climate in Wutai Mountain is cold. Although the latitude is similar to Beijing, the climate is similar to that of the Daxinganling Mountains. Therefore, tourists must pay attention to keeping warm. When coming in spring and autumn, you need to bring sweaters and woolen pants. In summer in the Taihuai area, the clouds are low in the sky, the humidity is high, and there is often rain, so it is best to bring an umbrella.

Expand and extend

Mount Wutai, the first of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, has both magnificent natural landscapes and rich cultural connotations. Mount Wutai is one of the first batch of national scenic spots announced by the State Council, and is also among the top ten tourist attractions in Shanxi Province.

Mount Wutai is the dojo of Manjushri Bodhisattva, so the main halls of many temples here are mainly dedicated to Manjushri Bodhisattva. Manjushri Bodhisattva is the left side attendant of Sakyamuni, and his mount is a green lion, which represents wisdom and power. There are many theories about his origin, but the popular theory is that he was born in a Brahmin family in Taiwan Weiguo. Because of his compassionate heart, he became a monk with Sakyamuni Buddha and became a disciple of the Buddha to help the Buddha enlighten all living beings. He ranks first in wisdom and eloquence among all the great Bodhisattvas, so he specializes in the wisdom of the Buddha and has the title of "Great Wisdom Manjushri".
