What is the density of polyurethane?

The relative density of polyurethane rubber (polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer) is 1. 10~ 1.25.

Rigid polyurethane has low thermal conductivity and good thermal performance. When the density of rigid polyurethane is 35 ~ 40kg/m3, the thermal conductivity is only 0.018 ~ 0.024w/(m k), which is about half that of EPS, and the thermal conductivity is the lowest among all thermal insulation materials at present. Rigid polyurethane has moisture-proof and waterproof properties. The closed-cell ratio of rigid polyurethane is above 90%, which is a hydrophobic material, and the thermal conductivity will not increase due to moisture absorption, and the wall will not leak.

Extended data

Flexible polyurethane mainly has thermoplastic linear structure, which has better stability, chemical resistance, resilience and mechanical properties than PVC foam, and has less compression deformation. Good heat insulation, sound insulation, earthquake resistance and anti-virus performance. Therefore, it is used as packaging, sound insulation and filtering materials.

Rigid polyurethane plastic has the advantages of light weight, excellent sound and heat insulation, good chemical resistance, good electrical properties, easy processing and low water absorption. It is mainly used as structural materials for building, automobile, aviation industry and thermal insulation. The performance of polyurethane elastomer is between plastic and rubber, with oil resistance, wear resistance, low temperature resistance, aging resistance, high hardness and elasticity. Mainly used in footwear industry and medical industry. Polyurethane can also be used to make adhesives, coatings, synthetic leather and so on.
