The classification of hotels and restaurants must comply with the relevant provisions of the state, that is, the classification and evaluation of star ratings of tourist hotels formulated by the National Tourism Administration and approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. This is a national standard, the highest hotel rating standard in China, and the most authoritative standard in China at present.

According to this standard, the hotel is divided into five grades: 1 star -5 stars * * *, and the highest grade is 5 stars. Since 2006, five white gold stars have been added on the basis of five stars, which means that five white gold stars are the highest level in China.
