Attractions in Shaoxing, Zhejiang

1. After arriving at Shaoxing Railway Station, you can take bus No. 2 or No. 4 and get off at the Lu Xun intersection. Walk a little ahead and there is an intersection. Turn to the left and you will find Lu Xun Road. Walking along Lu Xun Road, the first thing you see is the Xianheng Hotel, which is exactly what Lu Xun described. There is a sculpture of Kong Yiji (this one is the earliest, and you can see many replicas later). Further ahead is the Lu Xun’s Hometown Pedestrian Street (all the attractions are concentrated here).

2. Lu Xun’s hometown is now free to visit, but tickets are required to enter, and the number of people must be controlled. So if it is convenient, you can book online. The website address is the homepage of Shaoxing Cultural Tourism Group or Shaoxing Lu Xun Memorial Hall. Otherwise, you can also go to the Lu Xun’s Hometown Visitor Center to get it with your ID card (there are only 4,000 tickets per day, 2,000 online and 2,000 on-site). So you must go early to get your tickets.

3. The main attractions in Lu Xun’s hometown include Lu Xun Memorial Hall, Lu Xun’s former residence, Lu Xun’s ancestral residence and Sanwei Bookstore. Other nearby alleys include Tulu Temple and so on. You can walk around if you have time. It takes about 3 hours to complete the tour.

4. Shen Garden is very close to Lu Xun’s hometown. It is on Lu Xun East Road opposite the Lu Xun’s Hometown Visitor Center. It is usually easy to find it by asking someone. In the past, there were awning boats that went directly to Shen Garden from Lu Xun's hometown. Shen Garden required tickets, which seemed to be 30 yuan each.

5. After visiting Shen Garden, it is probably still early. You can take a bus from the bus station in Lu Xun’s hometown to have a look around the city square. There are the famous Cangqiao Street, Guxuan Pavilion and Qiu Jin Statue. Personally I think it's worth a visit.

6. You can stay in Shaoxing at night. There are many large and small hotels in Shaoxing. A standard hotel room generally costs between 120 and 150 yuan. Small hotels will also be cheaper. Look around on the street and settle down if you find something suitable.

7. The next day, you can arrange to go to Keyan. The main buses from Shaoxing City to Keyan are No. 77 and No. 603. No. 603 can be taken at Tashan Bus Station on Jiefang Road. No. 77 can be taken at Lu Xun’s hometown or the municipal government station near the city square. See for details Where were you living at that time? The journey takes about 40 minutes and the ticket price is about 4 yuan.

8. Keyan Scenic Area includes three scenic spots: Keyan, Jianhu and Luzhen. The combined ticket is 100 yuan (including the cost of boating between the three scenic spots). The inside is relatively large and can almost be enough for you to play for a day, so it's best to prepare some dry food, otherwise it doesn't seem cost-effective to buy food inside. Of course, if you want to try the so-called Shaoxing local dishes, that’s okay.

9. When Keyan comes back, he only needs to take a bus to Jiefang Road in the city, and then it is easy to get a bus directly to Shaoxing Railway Station. Taxis are not available but they are cheap. The starting price of a taxi in Shaoxing is only 5 yuan, so the four of you can still consider it.

Kuiji Mountain:

The first of the nine famous mountains in China. The Kuaiji Mountains are located between the Cao'e River and the Puyang River and are the watershed between the two rivers. Its territory spans cities and counties such as Shaoxing, Shangyu, Shengzhou, Zhuji, Xiaoshan, Pujiang, Yiwu, and Dongyang. On a small scale, it refers to the mountains north of the Xiaoshun River. The famous ones include Qinwang Mountain, Fahua Mountain, Lanzhu Mountain and Keshi Mountain. According to legend, Dayu succeeded in controlling the floods. After taking over the throne, he worshiped the earth god in this mountain and made alliances with the princes. After his death, he was also buried in this mountain. In the Sui Dynasty, it was listed as one of the Five Mountains and Four Towns, namely Nanzhen Kuaiji Mountain. There are a lot of monuments and legends about Xia Yu. ?

Jianhu Lake

Zhejiang Province Scenic Area. Located in the southwest suburbs of Shaoxing City, it is named after the clear water of the lake that can be used to identify people. It is also known as Jinghu, Qinghu, Nanhu, Changhu, Dahu, Zhaohu, Hejiahu, Hejian Lake, Daihu, etc. In the fifth year of Yonghe in the Eastern Han Dynasty (140), Ma Zhen, the prefect of Kuaiji, presided over the construction. At that time, it spanned Shanyin and Kuaiji counties, spanning 160 miles, with a circumference of 360 miles, collecting water from 36 sources, and irrigating more than 9,000 hectares of farmland. After the Southern Song Dynasty, fields were built around the lake, and the lake gradually became smaller. Today's Jianhu Lake is the remnant of ancient Jianhu Lake. From Pianmen to Hutang, the lake is about 4 kilometers wide at its widest point, covering about 30 square kilometers of water surface. The scenery around Renrangyan is the best. There are islands in the lake and mountains around the lake. The mountains and rivers blend together and the scenery is natural.

Along the lake are Ma Zhen's tomb and temple, Kuaige, Taoist village, Sanshan Luyou's hometown, Keyan, Hutang and other scenic spots and historic sites.

Bazi Bridge

Key cultural relics protection unit in Zhejiang Province. It is located at the east end of Baziqiao Straight Street in Shaoxing City. The two bridges are opposite and inclined, shaped like eight characters, hence the name. The current bridge was rebuilt in the fourth year of Baoji reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1256) and repaired in the forty-eighth year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1783). It was renovated again in 1982. The bridge is located at the intersection of three rivers. The main bridge spans the Jishan River and runs east-west. The bridge deck is paved with flat stones, 4.85 meters long, 3.2 meters wide, and has a clear span of 4.5 meters. There are railings on the bridge, and the pillars are carved with lotus flowers. There are cloud-shaped buckets under the canes. There are 9 stone pillars on the east and west sides of the bridge foundation. Among them, the center pillar on the west side is engraved with the inscription "Shibao? Built on an auspicious day in the middle of winter in Bingchen". The east side of the bridge slopes down to the north and south, and the west side of the bridge slopes down to the south, each spanning a small river. There is a towpath under the bridge.

East Lake

It is located at the northern foot of Ruozhen Mountain, 6 kilometers east of Shaoxing City. The area is 5.79 hectares. According to historical records, Qin Shihuang stopped here to feed his horses during his eastward tour. Commonly known as Raomen Mountain. The mountains are full of hard rocks, which are widely used. Since the Han Dynasty, rocks have been drilled and quarried, creating cliffs and deep pools. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Tao Junxuan, a native of Kuaiji, built an embankment as a boundary. The embankment formed a long and narrow lake area extending east and west with mountains and rivers interdependent. Walls were built on the embankment to form an enclosed garden. During the Anti-Japanese War, all buildings were destroyed. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, after several renovations, the lake and mountain landscape took on a completely new look. It is known as the "Jiangnan Water and Stone Bonsai" and is known as the three famous lakes in Zhejiang together with Hangzhou West Lake and Jiaxing South Lake. The entire East Lake is a clever combination of rocks, caves, stone bridges and lake surfaces, among which "Xiantao Cave" and "Taogong Cave" are the best. Inscribed on the stone wall of Taogong Cave are Guo Moruo's poem about visiting the lake, Chen Congzhou's "Wanzi Tiankai", Shu Tong's "Qifeng" and other inscriptions. There are also Xiangji Pavilion, Yinlu Pavilion, Tingjiu Pavilion, Guiling, Qinqiao, Xiachuan Bridge, etc. dotted in the lake area. The "Taoshe" at the west end was rebuilt in 1981, facing south, covering an area of ??116 square meters. In the middle hangs a plaque inscribed by Sun Yat-sen "Magnificent Mountains and Rivers", and Tao Chengzhang's achievements are displayed indoors. In early 1996, the scenic area was expanded, the area was expanded, the entrance was moved from east to west, and a night light landscape was added. ?
